2015–16 Sheffield Wednesday F.C. Season
The 2015–16 season was Sheffield Wednesday's fourth consecutive season in the Championship. Along with competing in the Championship, the club also participated in the FA Cup and League Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016. Overview Pre-season Prior to the start of the pre-season schedule the club announced that eleven players had been released after reaching the end of their contracts. Also in June, head coach Stuart Gray was sacked after 18 months in charge. Carlos Carvalhal was announced as Gray's replacement on 30 June 2015. August Sheffield Wednesday got their 2015–16 season underway at Hillsborough to Bristol City - a match that The Owls won 2–0 thanks to second half goals from Tom Lees and Lewis McGugan who signed a permanent deal after spending last season on loan at the club. Sheffield is a city in South Yorkshire, England, whose name derives from the River Sheaf which runs through it. The city serves as the administrative centre of the City of Sheffield. It is historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire and some of its southern suburbs were transferred from Derbyshire to the city council. It is the largest settlement in South Yorkshire. Marco André da Silva Lopes Matias (born 10 May 1989) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for S.C. Farense as a forward. Club career Portugal Born in Barreiro, Setúbal District, Matias finished his youth career at Sporting CP. He never represented the first team officially as a senior, being consecutively loaned to Varzim SC, C.D. Fátima and Real SC, with all the clubs but the third competing in the Segunda Liga. Pape Amodou "Modou" Sougou (born 18 December 1984) is a Senegalese former professional footballer who played as a right winger. Club career Early years and Portugal Born in the village of Fissel, in the M'bour Department, Sougou started his career with Dakar-based AS Douanes. Rhoys Wiggins
Rhoys Barrie Wiggins (born 4 November 1987) is a former professional footballer who played as a left back. Wiggins began his career at Crystal Palace, from where he had his first spell on loan to AFC Bournemouth. After just one first-team appearance for Palace, he signed for Norwich City, but soon found himself again on loan at Bournemouth, for whom he signed a permanent contract in 2010. Lewis Shay McGugan (born 25 October 1988) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. A player with excellent natural stamina, technical skills and mental attributes, he has represented England at under-17 and under-19 levels. He came through the youth-team at Nottingham Forest to make his first-team debut at the age of 17 in October 2006, and secured a regular place in the starting line-up by the end of the 2006–07 season.
