2015–16 Newport County A.F.C. Season
The 2015–16 season was Newport County A.F.C., Newport County's third consecutive season in Football League Two, League Two and 63rd season in the Football League. The season covered the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016. It was their 95th season of league football and 27th since reforming in 1989. They finished the season in 22nd place. The club also participated in the FA Cup, Football League Cup, League Cup and Football League Trophy, League Trophy, reaching Round 3 of the FA Cup for the first time since 1986. Season Review League Former England Manager Terry Butcher had been announced as manager in April 2015, but his tenure lasted just ten games of the 2015-16 season. On 1 October 2015 Newport County Supporters' Trust took over ownership of the club with Tony Pring appointed interim chairman. Oldham is a town in Greater Manchester, England. It lies amongst the Pennines on elevated ground between the rivers Irk and Medlock, southeast of Rochdale, and northeast of Manchester. It is the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, which had a population of 242,003 in 2021. Mark Byrne (born 9 November 1988) is an Irish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Crumlin United. Club career Nottingham Forest Byrne signed for Nottingham Forest in July 2007 from Dublin schoolboy side, Crumlin United after unsuccessful trials at Leicester City and Stoke City. He was named as a substitute in Forest's 1–1 draw at home to Walsall in March 2008. Curtis McDonald (born 24 March 1988) is a Welsh footballer who plays as a left-sided defender. Club career Born in Cardiff, Curtis made his debut for Cardiff City on 30 April 2006 against Coventry City in the Football League Championship. On 24 November, he joined Accrington Stanley on loan, making one appearance during a 2–0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers in the Football League Trophy as a substitute replacing Andy Todd. Aaron Graham John Collins (born 27 May 1997) is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a forward or winger for club Milton Keynes Dons. Club career Newport County Collins was a part of the Bristol Rovers academy before joining the Newport County academy.
