2015–16 National League B Season
The 2015–16 National League B season was the 69th ice hockey season of Switzerland's second tier hockey league, the National League B. HC Ajoie went on to win the championship by defeating SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in the finals. This title is the team's second in its history since 1992 when they won their first National League B championship. Teams Regular season The regular season started on September 11, 2015 and ended on February 13, 2016. Playoffs The playoffs started on February 16, 2016 and ended on April 1, 2016. League Qualification In League Qualification series HC Ajoie were supposed to play against EHC Biel, but the series were cancelled after HC Ajoie have not handed in their application for a promotion to next year's 2016–17 NLA season, NLA season. National League B
The Swiss League, also known as the Sky Swiss League for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of the main professional ice hockey league in Switzerland, behind the National League (ice hockey), National League. The winners of the league each season plays a best-of-seven series against the bottom team of the NL, and if they win, they are promoted, while the National League team is relegated to the Swiss League. In 2024, the Swiss League changed its name to Sky Swiss League as a partnership with broadcaster Sky Switzerland. Prior to the 2017–18 Swiss League season, 2017–18 season, the league was formerly called National League B. The league attendance in 2018–19 was about 2,700 spectators. Porrentruy
Porrentruy (; ; ) is a Swiss municipality and seat of the district of the same name located in the canton of Jura. Porrentruy is home to National League team, HC Ajoie. History The first trace of human presence in Porrentruy is a Mesolithic tool that was found in the backyard of the Hôtel-Dieu. Scattered, individual objects have also been found from the Neolithic, the late Bronze Age and the Iron Age. The first known settlement in what became Porrentruy goes back to the Roman era. In 1983, the ruins of a Gallo-Roman temple were discovered in the cemetery on the north of town, and Roman coins were found there. Near the town, a kilometre long (0.6 mile) section of the Augst- Epomanduodurum (now Mandeure) Roman road was discovered. Forum D'Octodure
Forum d'Octodure is an arena in Martigny, Switzerland. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of HCV Martigny. Forum d'Octodure was opened in 1955, in 1982 a roof was built and the rink became covered. Historical During the summer of 1955, the idea of creating the first artificial ice rink in Valais was launched. The HC Martigny, freshly promoted to the NLB obtains the support of the Municipality of Martigny for the construction of its ice rink. With the evolution of cooling techniques, what would have cost 1 million CHF 10 years ago can be achieved for 250,000 CHF at this time. The Municipality agrees to support the project of 125,000 CHF. The location is offered by the Maison du Grand-Saint-Bernard, an 8000 m2 plot of land on the edge of the city, next to the football stadium and the swimming pool. Diners Club Arena
St. Galler Kantonalbank Arena, formerly the Diners Club Arena, and originally known as Eishalle Lido, is an indoor sporting arena located in Rapperswil, Switzerland. The capacity of the arena is 6,100 and was built in 1987. It is the home arena of the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers ice hockey team. Olten
Olten (; High Alemannic: ''Oute'') is a town in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland and capital of the district of the same name. Olten grew into a town during the Middle Ages at the location of a bridge over the Aare. After a period of decline, it grew rapidly as a railway town in the 19th century. Langenthal is a town and a Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Oberaargau (administrative district), Oberaargau in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. Küsnacht
Küsnacht () is a municipality in the district of Meilen in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland. History Küsnacht is first mentioned in 1188 as ''de Cussenacho''. Earliest findings of settlement date back to the Stone Age. There are also findings from the Bronze Age. During Roman times, a mansion was located on the commons. It was called ''fundus Cossiniacus'' which is probably the origin of the name of Küsnacht. In the 7th century the name was recorded as ''Chussenacho''. The coat of arms shows a golden cushion on a red background. It is probably a derivate of the coat of arms of the aristocrats of Küssnacht am Rigi.
