2015–16 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Rankings
Two human polls make up the 2015–16 NCAA Division I women's basketball rankings, the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Notable events Duke dropped out of the top 25 in the AP Poll released 18 January 2016. They had been in the top 25 for the prior 312 consecutive weeks, starting with 29 November 1999 (17 seasons). The 312 week run is the third longest streak in history. Legend AP Poll This poll is compiled by sportswriters across the nation. In Division I men's and women's college basketball, the AP Poll is largely just a tool to compare schools throughout the season and spark debate, as it has no bearing on postseason play. Sources: This marks the 40th year of the AP poll which was started in November 1976. Tennessee was not in the initial poll but made the final season poll in the first year and every subsequent year until this year.
