2015–16 Jacksonville State Gamecocks Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Jacksonville State Gamecocks men's basketball team represented Jacksonville State University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Gamecocks, led by eighth year head coach James Green, played their home games at the Pete Mathews Coliseum and were members of the East Division of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 8–23, 4–12 in OVC play to finish in last place in the East Division. They failed to qualify for the OVC tournament. On March 16, Jacksonville State and head coach James Green mutually agreed to part ways. He finished at Jacksonville State with an eight-year record of 89–153. On April 6, 2016, the school hired Ray Harper as head coach. James Green (basketball)
James Green (born July 8, 1960) is an American basketball coach. He was most recently the head men's basketball coach at Meridian Community College in Meridian, Mississippi, a position he held from 2016 until his retirement in 2024. Green served as head men's basketball coach at the University of Southern Mississippi from 1996 to 2004, Mississippi Valley State University from 2005 to 2008, and Jacksonville State University from 2008 to 2016. College coaching career Green has held posts as assistant coach at the University of Idaho, Texas A&M University-College Station, University of Alabama and Iowa State University. Oakwood University
Oakwood University is a private, historically black Seventh-day Adventist university in Huntsville, Alabama. It is the only HBCU owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mount Pleasant is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The city is the county seat of Isabella County, which is part of Central Michigan. McGuirk Arena, previously known as the Daniel P. Rose Center and Rose Arena, is a multi-purpose arena, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, United States. The arena opened in 1973 and is part of a larger facility known as the CMU Events Center. The 2015–16 Central Michigan Chippewas men's basketball team represented Central Michigan University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Chippewas, led by fourth year head coach Keno Davis, played their home games at McGuirk Arena as members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 17–16, 10–8 in MAC play to finish in a tie for the West Division championship. They lost in the quarterfinals of the MAC tournament to Bowling Green. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they lost in the first round to Tennessee–Martin. Two human polls make up the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball rankings, the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Legend AP Poll USA Today Coaches Poll The Coaches Poll is the second oldest poll still in use after the AP Poll. It is compiled by a rotating group of 31 college Division I head coaches. The Poll operates by Borda count. Each voting member ranks teams from 1 to 25. Each team then receives points for their ranking in reverse order: Number 1 earns 25 points, number 2 earns 24 points, and so forth. The points are then combined and the team with the highest points is then ranked No. 1; second highest is ranked No. 2 and so forth. Only the top 25 teams with points are ranked, with teams receiving first place votes noted the quantity next to their name. The maximum points a single team can earn is 775.
