2015–16 Detroit Red Wings Season
The 2015–16 Detroit Red Wings season was the 90th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. The regular season began on October 9, 2015, against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and former Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock, with a 4–0 victory. This season also involved the Red Wings extending their playoff streak to 25 straight seasons. Atlantic Division (NHL)
The Atlantic Division is a name used by the National Hockey League to describe a division of teams in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. As part of a 2013 realignment, the entirety of the former Atlantic Division was realigned into the Metropolitan Division. 2015–16 Pittsburgh Penguins Season
The 2015–16 Pittsburgh Penguins season was the 49th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. Their regular season games began on October 8, 2015 against the Dallas Stars. On December 12, the team had a record of 15–10–3. The organization then fired head coach Mike Johnston and replaced him with Mike Sullivan, head coach of the organization's American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre. The Penguins qualified for the playoffs for the tenth consecutive season. They earned second place in the Metropolitan Division with 104 points. They began the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs on April 13 against the New York Rangers, the team they were eliminated by in the Stanley Cup playoffs both of the previous two seasons. Jared Coreau
Jared Coreau (born November 5, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently a free agent. Playing career Junior Coreau began his junior career playing for the Peterborough Stars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League during the 2008–09 season, where he went 8–1 with a 2.16 goals against average (GAA) and .930 save percentage. Coreau played for the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League (USHL) during the 2009–10 season, where he went 7–22–0 with one shutout and had a 3.62 GAA and .882 save percentage. Tom McCollum
Thomas McCollum (born December 7, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Belfast Giants of the Elite Ice Hockey League. McCollum was drafted 30th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. McCollum was born in Amherst, New York, but grew up in Sanborn, New York. Playing career Amateur McCollum started playing goalie when, during a mite hockey game, the goalie on his team quit; McCollum switched from defence and took over in the net at the next practice. The 2015–16 Chicago Blackhawks season was the 90th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. They entered the season as defending Stanley Cup champions having won the Stanley Cup the previous season, their third championship in six years. The Blackhawks finished the season with 103 points to finish in third place in the Central Division, only six points behind the Western Conference-leading Dallas Stars. They lost in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs to the St. Louis Blues in seven games. Patrick Kane led the Blackhawks with 46 goals and 106 points, both career highs. Jim Bedard (ice Hockey, Born 1956)
James Arthur Bédard (born November 17, 1956) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played 73 games in the National Hockey League with the Washington Capitals during the 1977–78 and 1978–79 seasons. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1976 to 1994, was spent in the minor leagues and then mainly in I-Divisioona, the second level of hockey in Finland. After his playing career Bédard worked in coaching, serving as the goaltending coach for the Detroit Red Wings from 1996 to 2016 and winning the Stanley Cup three times with the team. Christos Konstantinos Chelios (born January 25, 1962) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman. He was a three-time Stanley Cup champion: one with the Montreal Canadiens and two with the Detroit Red Wings. Pat Ferschweiler (born February 20, 1970) is an American ice hockey coach and former player. He is currently the head coach for the Western Michigan Broncos men's ice hockey, Western Michigan Broncos. Playing career Ferschweiler began his College ice hockey, collegiate career with the Western Michigan Broncos men's ice hockey, Western Michigan Broncos in 1990, having previously played for the Rochester Mustangs (junior), Rochester Mustangs of the United States Hockey League, USHL. Anthony Lewis Granato (born July 25, 1964) is an American former professional ice hockey left winger and former head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey team. He served as head coach of the United States men's national ice hockey team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Mike Babcock
Mike Babcock (born April 29, 1963) is a Canadian former ice hockey player and coach. He spent parts of eighteen seasons as a head coach in the National Hockey League (NHL), beginning when he was named head coach of the Anaheim Ducks, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, whom he led to the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals. In 2005, Babcock signed with the Detroit Red Wings, winning the Stanley Cup with them in 2008, and helping them to the Stanley Cup playoffs every year during his tenure and setting a record for most wins in Red Wings history. In 2015, he left Detroit to coach the Toronto Maple Leafs, a position he held until he was fired in 2019.
