2015–16 Austin Peay Governors Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Austin Peay Governors basketball team represented Austin Peay State University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Governors, led by 26th year head coach Dave Loos, played their home games at the Dunn Center and were members of the West Division of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 18–18, 7–9 in OVC play. As an 8 seed, they defeated 2015–16 Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles men's basketball team, Tennessee Tech, 2015–16 Tennessee State Tigers basketball team, Tennessee State, 2015–16 Belmont Bruins men's basketball team, Belmont and 2015–16 Tennessee–Martin Skyhawks men's basketball team, UT Martin to become champions of the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament, OVC tournament. Dave Loos
David Henry Loos (born March 5, 1947) is a retired American college basketball coach who most recently served as head coach of the men's team at Austin Peay State University, where he is also a former athletic director. He was head coach from 1990 until retiring at the end of the 2016–17 Austin Peay Governors basketball team, 2016–17 season. On April 2, 2013, Loos announced that he would relinquish his position as director of athletics to focus solely on coaching basketball. Derek van der Merwe was announced as the successor to Loos on June 5, 2013. On March 5, 2016, the Loos-coached Governors won the tournament championship of the Ohio Valley Conference, thus qualifying to participate once again in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. O'Fallon ( ) is a city in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan statistical area, located along Interstates 64 and 70 between Lake St. Louis and St. Peters. Chris Horton (born June 29, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for Trapani Shark of the LBA. He played college basketball at Austin Peay. College career Horton was a four-year starter for the Austin Peay Governors. During his freshman season, Horton set a school record for blocks in a season with 100 and finished sixth in Division I with 3.23 blocks per game to go with 8.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season and was named the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Freshman of the Year and to the conference All-Newcomer team. As a senior, he averaged 18.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 1.75 blocks per game and 25 double-doubles and was named first team All-OVC.
