The 2015–16 Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball season was the 40th season of Atlantic 10 Conference basketball. The 2016 Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Brooklyn, New York. 2015–16 Dayton Flyers men's basketball team, Dayton, 2015–16 VCU Rams men's basketball team, VCU, and 2015–16 St. Bonaventure Bonnies men's basketball team, St. Bonaventure tied for the regular season championship. 2015–16 Saint Joseph's Hawks men's basketball team, Saint Joseph's won the A-10 Tournament. 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2016 Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament was held March 9 through 13, 2016, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The champion earned an automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA tournament. Seeds All 14 Atlantic 10 schools participate in the tournament. Teams will be seeded by the 2015–16 Atlantic 10 Conference season record. The top 10 teams received a first round bye and the top four teams received a double bye. 2016 National Invitation Tournament
The 2016 National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2016 NCAA tournament. The annual tournament was played on campus sites for the first three rounds, with the Final Four and championship game being held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The tournament began on Tuesday, March 15 and ended on Thursday, March 31. An experimental rule allowing players six personal fouls instead of five was approved for use in all national postseason tournaments except for the NCAA Tournament. The NIT Selection Show aired at 8:30 PM EDT on Sunday, March 13, 2016, on ESPNU. George Washington were the champions over Valparaiso 76–60. The Colonials victory was their first-ever NIT title.
