2015 World Championships In Athletics – Men's Hammer Throw
The men's hammer throw at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Beijing National Stadium on 22 and 23 August. Returning champion and current world leader Paweł Fajdek looked to be the favorite. In the first round it was David Söderberg who took the lead. The second round saw Dilshod Nazarov and Sergej Litvinov get off 77 metre throws to take the top two spots. Then in the third round, Fajdek let out 80.64 and calmly walked out of the ring. Nobody else could get in that range, but Fajdek launched 80.88 on his next throw for the win. Nazarov got off a 78.55 in the fifth round to move into second, but that was matched exactly by Wojciech Nowicki on his final throw. With an exact tie for the silver medal, the second best throw became the tiebreaker, Nazarov's 78.06 in the fourth round being superior to Nowicki's third round 77.20. Ivan Tsikhan
Ivan Ryhoravich Tsikhan (born 24 July 1976) is a Belarusian hammer thrower. He is a two-time world champion and an Olympic medalist. Personal life Tsikhan was born in the village of Hloŭsievičy, Slonim district, Grodno Region, Belarusian SSR. He now lives in Grodno. His wife Volha is also an athlete, a discus thrower. Ivan and Volha have one son, Ivan. Tsikhan was coached by the former Olympic champion Sergey Litvinov. Sport career Tsikhan competed at his first World Championships in 1997, he reached the final but failed to record a mark. He also failed to do so at the 1998 European Championships, but finished tied for third in the final at the 2000 Olympic Games. He was ranked fourth because he did not have a superior second best. Juan Ignacio Cerra (born 16 October 1976 in Santa Fe) is a male hammer thrower from Argentina. His personal best throw is 76.42 metres, achieved in July 2001 in Trieste. This is also the South American record. Career He won the gold medal at the 2003 Pan American Games. He also has a bronze medal from the 1999 Pan American Games, and won the 1998 South American Games. He participated at the World Championships in Athletics in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005 as well as the Summer Olympics in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 without reaching the final. Lance Deal
Lance Earl Deal (born August 21, 1961, in Riverton, Wyoming) is a former American athlete who won a silver medal in the hammer throw in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He also competed in the 1988, 1992, and 2000 Summer Olympics. Career In the hammer throw finals at the 1996 Olympic Games, only the top eight competitors after three throws were awarded three additional throws. Deal fouled his first two throws; his third equaled the eighth longest throw of the competition. However, he was only in ninth place, because the other competitor had a second legal throw. The announcer initially stated that, on the basis of that tiebreaker, Deal was out of the rest of the competition. The officials corrected the error, however; IAAF rules do not call for breaking ties in this case. Koji Murofushi
is a Japanese former hammer thrower and sports scientist. He has been among the world elite since the 2001 World Championships, where he won the silver medal. He was the 2004 Olympic champion. In 2011, he was crowned world champion. Early life and education Koji Murofushi was born on 8 October 1974 in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture. He is of Japanese and Romanian descent.
