The 2015 São Paulo Women's Sevens was the second tournament of the 2014–15 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. It was held over the weekend of 7–8 February 2015 at Arena Barueri in São Paulo metropolitan area, and was the second edition of the Women's São Paulo Sevens as part of the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series The World Rugby SVNS, known as the HSBC SVNS for Naming rights, sponsorship reasons, is a series of international rugby sevens tournaments for women's national teams run by World Rugby. 2014–15 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series
The 2014–15 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series was the third edition of the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series (formerly the IRB Women's Sevens World Series), an annual series of tournaments organised by World Rugby for women's national teams in rugby sevens. The series also doubled as an Olympic qualifier for the first time ever. For the second time in the series' history, the number of events increased. The first series in 2012–13 featured four events. The 2013–14 series was initially announced with six events, but only five were actually scheduled and played. This season's series included six events. As in previous seasons, the number of teams in each of the events was set at 12; however, the number of core teams that participate in all series events increased to 11. Also for the first time, the women's series held a core team qualifying tournament at Hong Kong, similar to that held in the men's HSBC Sevens World Series. Portia Woodman
Portia Woodman-Wickliffe (née Woodman; born 12 July 1991) is a New Zealand rugby union player. She plays fifteen-a-side and seven-a-side rugby union, and was a member of the New Zealand women's national rugby sevens team and New Zealand women's national rugby union team. Woodman was a member of the New Zealand Women's Sevens team that won a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and gold medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She retired from international sevens rugby after the Paris Olympics. In 2022, Woodman became the first woman to score 200 tries in the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series, Sevens Series. In May 2024, Woodman became the first woman to score 250 tries in the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series, Sevens Series. Arena Barueri
Arena Barueri is a multi-use stadium located in Barueri, São Paulo (state), São Paulo state, Brazil. It is used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and hosts the home matches of Oeste Futebol Clube, Oeste, and hosted the matches of Grêmio Recreativo Barueri until the 2010 in Brazilian football, 2010 season. The stadium has a maximum capacity of 31,452 people and was built in 2007. It is owned by the City of Barueri. During the reforming of Palestra Italia Stadium the Barueri Arena was being used for some home matches of Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, Palmeiras. World Rugby Women's Sevens Series
The World Rugby SVNS, known as the HSBC SVNS for Naming rights, sponsorship reasons, is a series of international rugby sevens tournaments for women's national teams run by World Rugby.
