Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci were the defending champions, but chose not participate together. Errani played alongside Flavia Pennetta, but lost in the quarterfinals to Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Šafářová. Vinci teamed up with Jelena Janković, but lost in the first round to Garbiñe Muguruza and Carla Suárez Navarro. Mattek-Sands and Šafářová went on to win the title, defeating Caroline Garcia and Katarina Srebotnik in the final, 6–1, 6–2. Bethanie Mattek-Sands ( Bethanie Lynn Mattek; born March 23, 1985) is an American professional tennis player. She has won nine Grand Slam titles (five in women's doubles and four in mixed doubles), and an Olympic gold medal, and is a former world No. 1 in doubles. In women's doubles, Mattek-Sands has won 30 career titles, including five majors at the 2015 Australian Open, 2015 French Open, 2016 US Open, 2017 Australian Open and 2017 French Open, all partnering Lucie Šafářová.
