2015 President Of Ireland's Cup
The 2015 President's Cup was the second President's Cup contested for. The match was played between 2014 League of Ireland champions Dundalk and 2014 FAI Cup winners, St Patrick's Athletic on 28 February 2015, at Oriel Park. Dundalk came from behind to win the game 2-1. Christopher Forrester put St Patrick's Athletic ahead in the 35th minute when he turned in a low cross from the right from close range. Daryl Horgan made it 1-1 a minute later when he scored with a shot from just outside the box with his right foot. Richie Towell got the winner for Dundalk a minute later turning in a cross from the left which wrong footed the goalkeeper. The President of Ireland's Cup, also known simply as the President's Cup, is an association football super cup featuring clubs from the Republic of Ireland football league system. It is a one-off match between the winners of the previous season's League of Ireland Premier Division and the FAI Cup, and similarly to the FA Community Shield in England, functions both as a domestic Super cup and a unofficial opener to the football season in Ireland. Because it is organised by the Football Association of Ireland, it is sometimes misleadingly referred to as the FAI President's Cup. Daryl Horgan
Daryl Jeremiah Horgan (born 10 August 1992) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a winger for League Two club Stevenage on loan from Wycombe Wanderers and the Republic of Ireland national team. Horgan was born in Galway and played youth football with Salthill Devon. He began his career with Salthill in 2010 in the League of Ireland First Division before starting his professional career with Sligo Rovers the following year. After a loan move to Cork City in July 2011 resulted in a First Division title, Horgan signed a permanent deal with the Munster club later that year. 2015 Setanta Sports Cup
The Setanta Sports Cup was a club football competition featuring teams from both football associations on the island of Ireland. Inaugurated in 2005, it was a cross-border competition between clubs in the League of Ireland from the Republic of Ireland and the NIFL Premiership from Northern Ireland. The cup was sponsored by Setanta Sports, the Irish subscription sports television network. The competition was discontinued after the 2014 edition. The winners of the competition earned a spot in the first qualifying round of the 2016–17 UEFA Europa League. A total of 40 teams competed in the 2015 competition, which commenced in March 2015. The teams entered from the 2015 League of Ireland Premier Division and First Division received byes into the second round stage. Four non-league clubs also received byes to the second round. The remaining 12 teams entered at the first round stage. These non-league teams are composed of the sixteen clubs, which reached the fourth round of the 2014–15 FAI Intermediate Cup, and the semi-finalists of the FAI Junior Cup in 2014–15. Richard Patrick Towell (born 17 July 1991) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for League of Ireland Premier Division club Shamrock Rovers. Dundalk ( ; ga, Dún Dealgan ), meaning "the fort of Dealgan", is the county town (the administrative centre) of County Louth, Ireland.
