2015 BDO World Darts Championship
The 2015 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was the 38th World Championship organised by the British Darts Organisation, and the 30th staging at the Lakeside Country Club at Frimley Green. 2014 BDO champion Stephen Bunting did not defend his title, as he switched to the rival PDC organisation at the start of the season. Scott Mitchell beat Martin Adams 7–6 in the final for his first world title. For the first time since 1992 no player from the Netherlands reached the last 16. Lakeside Leisure Complex
The Lakeside Leisure Complex is a hotel, conferencing, entertainment and associated leisure complex in Frimley Green in west Surrey, England. It hosted the open/men's and women's BDO World Darts Championship every January from 1986 to 2019. History The complex was established in 1972, when Bob Potter bought Wharfenden House and the surrounding grounds and lake. He soon doubled the hall to 1,000 seats principally for hosting comedians and musicians, including North American and internationally acclaimed acts. Lakeside was almost completely destroyed in a fire in November 1978, but was subsequently rebuilt, reopening in October the following year. During the 25th year of hosting the 2010 BDO World Darts Championship, World Darts Championship, in 2010 the lake had largely iced over by 7 January. James Wilson (darts Player)
James Wilson (born 25 February 1972) is an English darts player who competed in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and British Darts Organisation (BDO) events. Career BDO Wilson first rose to prominence in 2012 by winning several tournaments, rising to number four in the world and reaching the quarter-finals of the Winmau World Masters. Despite this, he was unseeded on his debut appearance at the World Championship and was drawn against top seed Stephen Bunting in round one, taking a 2–1 lead before eventually losing 2–3. Wilson followed up on his form in 2013, rising to second in the world and reaching the final of the World Masters beating Jan Dekker and Robbie Green en route to a 7–0 loss to Bunting. Robbie Green
Robbie Green (born 19 July 1974) is a former English professional darts player. His nickname was Kong. PDC career Green made his televised debut at the 2004 UK Open, reaching the last 64 stage. The same year he qualified for the World Matchplay in Blackpool Losing in the first round to Bob Anderson. In the 2006 UK Open, he reached the quarter-finals, beating Jamie Harvey, Chris Mason, Mark Walsh and Terry Jenkins along the way. He was eventually beaten by John MaGowan. Positive drug test After drugs testing was introduced to the sport in 2006, after the UK Open in what was the eighth random test in the British-based organisation by agency UK Sport, Green became the first darts player to test positive for drugs. Darryl Fitton
Darryl Fitton (born 5 May 1962) is a former English professional darts player. He was nicknamed The Dazzler and worked as an undertaker before embarking on his darts career. Fitton won the 2009 Finder Masters and the 2016 BDO World Trophy. He was also a three-time BDO World Championship semi-finalist, the runner-up at the 2007 World Masters, and a quarter-finalist at the 2008 Grand Slam of Darts. Darts career Fitton's first TV appearance was against Peter Manley in the 1997 PDC World Matchplay. However, he lost 8–6, and has not made another PDC appearance since. Fitton debuted in the BDO World Championship in 2003 as a qualifier, but lost 1–3 to fellow qualifier John Burton in the first round. Rick Hofstra
Rick Hofstra (born 21 April 1977) is a Dutch former professional darts player. Career Hofstra reached the quarter-finals of the 2001 Belgium Open and the 2002 Swiss Open before making his major debut in the 2003 International Darts League, where he beat Scotland's Bob Taylor in his opening group game before losing to Raymond van Barneveld. Hofstra then beat Co Stompé to qualify for the second group stage where he lost all three group games to Andy Fordham, Tony David and Jarkko Komula. He then lost in the first round of the 2003 World Darts Trophy, losing to Tony West and then lost in the first round of the 2003 Winmau World Masters to Martin Adams. Remco Van Eijden
Remco van Eijden (born 12 September 1977) is a retired Dutch darts player. Career Van Eijden previously played in the British Darts Organisation and he played in the 2008 BDO World Darts Championship, beating fellow Dutchman Mario Robbe in the first round, only to lost in the second round to third seed Scott Waites. In November 2008, van Eijden began playing on the PDC circuit, playing in the two PDPA Players Championships in the Netherlands, reaching the quarter-finals in the second event. He then reached the third round of the PDC German Darts Championship. He then played in the 2009 PDC World Darts Championship having been offered and accepted an SBS6 wildcard. Jeffrey De Graaf
Jeffrey de Graaf (born 21 November 1990) is a Dutch-born Swedish professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He was the runner-up at the 2015 BDO World Trophy, and moved from the BDO to the PDC in 2016. He has won five titles on the PDC Nordic & Baltic Tour. De Graaf has finished as the runner-up at two ranking PDC Players Championship events. De Graaf reached the quarter-finals representing Sweden, alongside Oskar Lukasiak, at the 2024 PDC World Cup, after a five-year naturalisation period. Ross Montgomery
Ross Montgomery (born 16 October 1962), nicknamed The Boss, is a Scottish former professional darts player who competes in World Seniors Darts (WSD) events. He formerly participated in both World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is the reigning World Seniors Darts Champion, having won the 2025 World Seniors Championship. Montgomery won three British Darts Organisation (BDO) major titles: the 2010 Zuiderduin Masters, and the Dutch Open in both 2014 and 2020. He finished as runner-up at the 2014 BDO World Trophy. Jamie Hughes (darts Player)
Jamie Hughes (born 27 February 1986) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Hughes formerly played in British Darts Organisation (BDO) events, winning the 2014 Finder Darts Masters. He was also the runner-up at the 2014 World Masters and the 2016 Finder Darts Masters, a semi-finalist at the BDO World Darts Championship in 2016 and 2017, the 2016 BDO World Trophy, and the 2017 Finder Masters, and a quarter-finalist at the 2015 World Masters. Gary Robson (darts Player)
Gary "Big Robbo" Robson (born 19 June 1967) is an English professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation events. Career Robson qualified twice for the World Championships, but was beaten in the first round on each occasion. He made it for a third time in 2004, but found himself 2–0 down in sets against Steve Coote. However, Robson recovered and took the match to a sudden death deciding leg, which he won. Bobby George commented that "you won't see browner darts in this tournament than that match". Robson had another excellent performance in losing to 'Silverback' Tony O'Shea in the second round. Robson's biggest tournament win so far was at the World Darts Trophy in Utrecht, Netherlands. Wesley Harms
Wesley Harms (born 11 June 1984) is a former Dutch professional darts player. Career Harms won the BDO International Open in 2011, defeating Stephen Bunting in the final. Harms qualified for the 2012 BDO World Darts Championship as the 13th seed. He defeated Martin Phillips, Robbie Green, and fellow débutant Paul Jennings to reach the semi-final where he was defeated 6–5 by Tony O'Shea. Harms's performance, followed by subsequent strong runs in the coming months, saw him briefly top the WDF world rankings. Glen Durrant
Glen Durrant (born 24 November 1970), nicknamed "Duzza", is an English former professional darts player who competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Durrant is a three-time BDO World Champion, having won the title in consecutive years: 2017, 2018 and 2019. Durrant also won six other BDO major titles: the 2018 BDO World Trophy, the World Masters in 2015 and 2016, and the Finder Darts Masters in 2015, 2016 and 2018. Durrant won a PDC Tour Card in 2019 and won 2 ranking PDC titles that year before winning the 2020 Premier League, his only PDC major title.
