2014–15 Yale Bulldogs Men's Basketball Team
The 2014–15 Yale Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Yale University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs, led by 16th year head coach James Jones, played their home games at John J. Lee Amphitheater of the Payne Whitney Gymnasium and were members of the Ivy League. The Bulldogs lost their One-game playoff against Harvard 53–51. Despite having posted an 11–3 Ivy League record and a 22–10 overall record the Bulldogs weren't invited to a postseason tournament. Previous season The Bulldogs finished the season 19–14, 9–5 in Ivy League play to finish in second place. James Jones (basketball, Born 1964)
James Fitzgerald Jones (born February 20, 1964) is an American men's college basketball coach who is the head coach at Yale University. Born on Long Island, Jones played college basketball at Albany Great Danes men's basketball, SUNY Albany and worked as a sales executive for NCR Corporation before beginning his coaching career. Jones succeeded Dick Kuchen as the 22nd men's basketball head coach of Yale University on April 27, 1999. On March 17, 2016, Jones and the Bulldogs upset the fifth-seeded Baylor University Bears in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. On March 22, 2024, Jones and the Bulldogs upset the fourth-seeded Auburn University Tigers in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. Makai Mason (born May 4, 1995) is an American-German professional basketball player who last played for Baxi Manresa of the Liga ACB. He played college basketball for the Yale Bulldogs and Baylor Bears. Early life A Greenfield, Massachusetts, native, Mason attended The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut. He garnered NEPSAC Class A Player of the Year honors as a senior and enrolled at Yale University in 2014. College career In his first year in college, Mason appeared in 31 games for the Bulldogs with per-game averages of 6.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists, earning him the John C. Cobb Outstanding Freshman Award. His sophomore campaign in 2015-16 was his breakout year. Justin Sears
Justin Sears (born January 3, 1994) is a retired American/British basketball player for s.Oliver Würzburg of the Basketball Bundesliga. He played college basketball for the Yale Bulldogs. He was named Ivy League Player of the Year twice, in 2015 and 2016. Early life Justin was born to Ryan and Lorna Sears and brought up in Plainfield, New Jersey. He and his younger brother, Jordan, began playing tennis at age four, and his experience with the sport helped his footwork. Jordan started playing basketball in sixth grade, and Justin began playing for fun with the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) at around the same time. Justin competed at a higher level in eighth grade, after his father's friend encouraged him to play in a league in Plainfield. Javier Duren
Javier Duren (born July 1, 1993) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for the Yale Bulldogs from 2011 to 2015. He played the point guard position. Between 2019 and 2024, he worked with the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB) in their baseball operations department in various roles including manager of video operations.
