The 2014–15 Melbourne City FC season was the club's fifth season since its establishment in 2009, and its first season under the "Melbourne City" moniker, after being taken over and rebranded by Manchester City. The club participated in the A-League for the fifth time and the FFA Cup for the first time. Melbourne City Football Club is an Australian professional Association football, soccer club based in the South-Eastern Metropolitan Region, South-Eastern region of Melbourne, Victoria. They compete in the A-League Men, the Australian soccer league system, highest division of soccer in Australia, under licence from the Australian Professional Leagues (APL). Founded in 2009 as Melbourne Heart, the club competed under that name from its inaugural 2010–11 A-League, 2010–11 A-League season until the end of the 2013–14 A-League, 2013–14 season. It was rebranded as Melbourne City following its acquisition by the City Football Group (CFG) and Holding M.S. Australia in January 2014. In August 2015, CFG assumed full ownership of the club after purchasing Holding M.S. Australia’s stake. Rob Wielaert
Robert Wielaert (; born 29 December 1978) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Playing career Career in the Netherlands (1997–2013) Wielaert was born in Emmeloord, Flevoland and made his debut in professional football with PSV Eindhoven in the 1997–98 season. He also played for FC Den Bosch and NEC before joining FC Twente. During his FC Twente period he was the captain of the team. During the 2009 January transfer period he went to Ajax for a transfer fee of 3 million. However, he lost his starting position and was sent on loan to Roda JC at the start of the 2010–11 season. He signed for two seasons with Roda in the summer of 2011. After his contract had expired in 2013, Wielaert was released.
