The 2014–15 Edmonton Oilers season was the 36th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, and 43rd season including their play in the World Hockey Association (WHA). The Oilers missed the playoffs for the 9th straight season Off-season On April 21, 2014, the Oilers announced that Bill Scott had accepted the position of assistant general manager, replacing Rick Olczyk. On June 10, 2014, the Oilers hired Craig Ramsay as an assistant coach, replacing Kelly Buchberger. Buchberger will move into a new role in player personnel. On June 23, 2014, the Oilers announced that Assistant Coach Steve Smith would leave the organization and he would end up being with the Carolina Hurricanes. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981–82 NHL season, 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. Laurent Brossoit
Laurent Brossoit (born March 23, 1993) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Brossoit won the Stanley Cup with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023 Stanley Cup Finals, 2023. Brossoit was selected by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round, 164th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and played for the Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets prior to joining the Golden Knights. He was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia, but grew up in Cloverdale, British Columbia. Zack Kassian
Zack Adam Kassian (born January 24, 1991) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), winger and pro scout for the Edmonton Oilers. He most recently played for HC Sparta Praha in the Czech Extraliga. During his major junior hockey, major junior career, he won a Memorial Cup with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 2010 Memorial Cup, 2010. Selected in the first round, 13th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Kassian began his career within the Sabres organization before being traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 2012. Kelly Buchberger
Kelly Michael Buchberger (born December 2, 1966) is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He played for several National Hockey League teams from 1986 to 2004. As a coach, he has been an assistant for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL) and a head coach of the Tri City Americans of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Playing career Buchberger has played for the Edmonton Oilers, Atlanta Thrashers, Los Angeles Kings, Phoenix Coyotes, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Craig Ramsay
Craig Edward Ramsay (born March 17, 1951) is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He played in the NHL from 1971 to 1985 for the Buffalo Sabres, notably featuring in the 1975 Stanley Cup Finals with the Sabres. After his playing career, he became a coach with the Sabres and later served as the final head coach of the Atlanta Thrashers. Rick Olczyk (born March 10, 1970) is an American ice hockey executive and assistant general manager of the Seattle Kraken. Previously he was the assistant general manager for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL) for six seasons. He is the younger brother of hockey player Eddie Olczyk. He is also an annual SMWW Hockey Career Conference speaker for the online sports-career training school Sports Management Worldwide, founded and run by Lynn Lashbrook. College career A 1992 graduate of Brown University, Olczyk earned a J.D. degree from Cornell Law School in 1996. The World Hockey Association () was a professional ice hockey major league that operated in North America from 1972–73 WHA season, 1972 to 1978–79 WHA season, 1979.
