2014 UCI Road World Championships – Men's Time Trial
The Men's time trial of the 2014 UCI Road World Championships was a cycling event that took place on 24 September 2014 in Ponferrada, Spain. The 21st edition of the championship was won by reigning Olympic time trial champion, Bradley Wiggins. Germany's Tony Martin – the three-time defending champion – claimed silver, and Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands claimed bronze. Qualification All National Federations were allowed to enter four riders for the race, with a maximum of two riders to start. The rainbow jersey is the distinctive cycling jersey, jersey worn by the reigning World Cycling Championship, world champion in a cycling discipline, since 1927. The jersey is predominantly white with five horizontal bands in the Union Cycliste Internationale, UCI colours around the chest. Daniel Teklehaimanot Girmazion (, ; born 10 November 1988) is a professional Road bicycle racing, road racing cyclist from Eritrea, who last rode for UCI Professional Continental team . Career Daniel was a member of the Union Cycliste Internationale, UCI's World Cycling Centre training program before signing for the new Australian cycling team in 2012. Whilst at the World Cycling Centre he was diagnosed with tachycardia, which was corrected by surgery in early 2009. Belgium at the UCI Road World Championships is an overview of the Belgian results at the UCI Road World Championships. The Belgian competitors are selected by coaches of the Royal Belgian Cycling League. Apart from Cycling at the Summer Olympics, cycling events at the four-yearly Summer Olympics, the only times that road bicycle racing, road cyclists appear in proper national selections (instead of in commercial cycling teams) of one or multiple athletes are the yearly UCI Road World Championships.
