The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre (also known as the Optus Aquatic Centre for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games) is a public swimming pool complex located in the Southport Broadwater Parklands on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast, Queensland. It was the swimming and diving facility for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. History The ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' opened in the 1960s as the ''Southport Pool''. The complex was renamed to the ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' in the late 2000s. In 2018, the Gold Coast hosted the Commonwealth Games. Nicolas Fink (born July 3, 1993) is an American competitive swimmer. He is a five-time world champion in breaststroke events and a 2024 Olympic Silver Medalist in the 100 meter breaststroke. He is a world record holder in the short course 4×100 meter medley relay and 4×50 meter mixed medley relay. He is the Americas record holder in the short course 50 meter breaststroke, 100 meter breaststroke, and 200 meter breaststroke as well as the American record holder in the long course 50 meter breaststroke. Joshua Hall (swimmer)
Joshua Hall (October 22, 1768 – December 25, 1862) was an American legislator who served as the eighth governor of Maine for 34 days in 1830. Hall, a Methodist minister in Frankfort, Maine, was elected to the Maine Senate in 1830 and was chosen as President of the Maine Senate. After Governor Enoch Lincoln died in office, he was succeeded by the then Maine Senate president Nathan Cutler. The Maine Supreme Court, however, ruled that Cutler could not remain in office as Governor past the expiration of his Senate term on January 6, 1830. Hall as the new President of the Maine Senate was then sworn in as acting Governor, serving until the inauguration of Jonathan Hunton on February 9, 1830.
