2014 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2014 Big East men's basketball tournament, officially known as the 2014 Big East Championship, was the 35th overall edition of the Big East men's basketball tournament, but the first of the current Big East Conference. It determined the recipient of the conference's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA tournament, as well as one of the two (or more) officially recognized conference champions for the 2013–14 Big East Conference men's basketball season (like most NCAA Division I conferences, the Big East recognizes both the regular-season and tournament winners as conference champions). It was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The 2013 tournament was the last tournament for the Big East in its original form. Semaj Rakim Christon (born November 1, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for Vanoli Cremona of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He played college basketball for Xavier. High school career The Cincinnati, Ohio, native attended Winton Woods High School with whom he led the Fort Ancient Valley Conference in scoring as a senior with 21 points per game, adding 5.2 assists. Doug McDermott
Douglas Richard McDermott (born January 3, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). While playing college basketball for the Creighton Bluejays, McDermott led the nation in scoring in 2013–14 and was a three-time consensus first-team All-American. He was the consensus national player of the year as a senior in 2014, and finished his college career with the fifth-most points in NCAA Division I men's basketball history. After graduating from Creighton, McDermott was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 11th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft. 2013–14 Marquette Golden Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Marquette Golden Eagles men's basketball team represented Marquette University in the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their coach Buzz Williams served in his sixth year as head coach. Marquette played its home games at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marquette was a member of the newly reorganized Big East Conference after the split of the old Big East because they are part of the Catholic 7. They finished the season 17–15, 9–9 in Big East play to finish in sixth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament to Xavier.
