2013–14 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2013–14 West Coast Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2013 and ended with the 2014 West Coast Conference men's basketball tournament at the Orleans Arena March 6–11, 2014 in Las Vegas. The regular season began in November, with the conference schedule starting at the end of December. This was the 63rd season for the conference, and the 25th under its current name as "West Coast Conference". The conference began as the California Basketball Association in 1952, became the West Coast Athletic Conference in 1956, and dropped the word "Athletic" in 1989. The conference went through significant changes this season, adding a new member for the second time in three seasons and bringing the WCC to 10 members. NCAA Division I (D-I) is the highest division of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States, which accepts players globally. Orleans Arena
Orleans Arena is a 9,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Paradise, Nevada, in the Las Vegas Valley. It is located at the The Orleans, Orleans Hotel and Casino and is operated by Coast Casinos, a subsidiary of Boyd Gaming, Boyd Gaming Corporation. The arena is the home to the Vegas Rollers of World TeamTennis since 2019. It is also an occasional home for the UNLV Rebels basketball team when the Thomas & Mack Center is in use. The 2013–14 Pacific Tigers men's basketball team represented the University of the Pacific (United States), University of the Pacific during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They play their home games at the Alex G. Spanos Center. This was season of new beginnings for the Tigers. Gone after 25 seasons was long-time head coach Bob Thomason. The new head coach of the Tigers was former assistant Ron Verlin. Verlin arrived with much experience. Verlin had been the associate head coach for the Tigers for 19 seasons under Thomason. The 2013–14 Saint Mary's Gaels men's basketball team represented Saint Mary's College of California during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Big West Conference
The Big West Conference (BWC) is an American collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference whose member institutions participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's NCAA Division I, Division I. The conference was originally formed on July 1, 1969, as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and in 1988 was renamed the Big West Conference. The conference stopped sponsoring college football after the 2000 season. Among the conference's 11 member institutions, 10 are located in California (nine in Southern California alone), and one is located in Hawaii (though the Hawaii member is leaving for the Mountain West Conference, effective July 1, 2026). All of the current schools are public universities, with the California schools evenly split between the California State University and the University of California systems.
