2013–14 St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–2014 St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers men's basketball team represented St. Francis College during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was coached by Glenn Braica, who was in his fourth year at the helm of the St. Francis Terriers. The Terrier's home games were played at the Generoso Pope Athletic Complex. The team has been a member of the Northeast Conference since 1981. The Terriers were selected to participate in the 2013 Maui Invitational Tournament where they won the Consolation Game of the Regional Rounds. St. Francis Brooklyn finished the season at 18–14 overall and 9–7 in conference play for a fourth place tie with Mount St. Mary's. Glenn Braica
Glenn Braica (born September 16, 1964) is the men's basketball head coach at St. Francis College since 2010. Braica was born in Brooklyn, New York and is an alumnus of Bishop Ford High School and Queens College. Braica began his head coaching career at St. Francis College in 2010 and had 22 years of coaching experience at the time split between New York City Tech, St. Francis and St. John's as an assistant coach. Biography Braica attended St. Agnes High School from 1980–82 and Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School, Bishop Ford in Brooklyn from 1982–84. Braica went on to Queens College, City University of New York, Queens College and played for the Knights from 1984–88 as a point guard. NJCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship
NJCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championships is held annually in March at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, KS. The first official NJCAA National Championship was in 1948 in Springfield, MO at the Southwest State College Fieldhouse. The event moved to "Hutch" in 1949, and has been there ever since. The format has changed many times throughout its history, and until 2013 it was a false double-elimination tournament. Now the event is single elimination and consists of 23 games over six days. The NJCAA had only one division for Men's Basketball until the 1986–87 season when Division 2 was added. A third non-scholarship division was formed starting with the 1990 tournament. The NJCAA is divided into 24 Regions who form 16 Districts. The 16 District Champions receive automatic berths in the National Championship, and there are eight at-large bids extended. The 2013–14 Oakland Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team represented Oakland University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Golden Grizzlies, led by 30th year head coach Greg Kampe, played their home games at the Athletics Center O'rena and were first-year members of the Horizon League. The 2013–14 season was the first for Oakland in the Horizon League. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Men's Basketball
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers men's basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Sun Belt Conference. Tony Dunkin, a former Chanticleer, is the only men's basketball player in NCAA Division I history to be named the conference player of the year all four seasons he played. Conway, South Carolina
Conway is a city in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 24,849 at the 2020 census, up from 17,103 in 2010 census. The 2013–14 Syracuse Orange men's basketball team represented Syracuse University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team played its home games at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York. This marked Syracuse's inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, having moved from the Big East Conference. The 2013–14 Dayton Flyers men's basketball team represented the University of Dayton during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Flyers, led by third year head coach Archie Miller, played their home games at the University of Dayton Arena and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Maui Invitational Tournament
The Maui Invitational, currently known as the Maui Jim Maui Invitational, is an annual early-season college basketball tournament that takes place Thanksgiving week, normally in Lahaina, Hawaii, at the Lahaina Civic Center on the island of Maui. It is hosted by Chaminade University of Honolulu, an NCAA Division II school. Eight NCAA Division I men's basketball teams are invited to Maui to complete the field. The Maui Invitational has been played since 1984 and is carried by ESPN. Camping World became the title sponsor for the 2020 Tournament only. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. The rules of overtime or extra time vary between sports and even different competitions. Some may employ "sudden death", where the first player or team who scores immediately wins the game. South Shore High School (Brooklyn)
South Shore High School is one of the two defunct New York City public high schools in Canarsie, Brooklyn, the other being Canarsie High School. Opened in 1970, it had a capacity of 4000 students in grades nine through twelve. At the peak of enrollment, during the 1972-74 school years, the comprehensive high school had a student population of 6,800, making South Shore the second largest high school in the United States at the time. To accommodate the large capacity of students 13 class periods were provided.
