2013–14 Saint Joseph's Hawks Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Saint Joseph's Hawks basketball team represented Saint Joseph's University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hawks, led by 19th year head coach Phil Martelli, played their home games at Hagan Arena and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 24–10, 11–5 in A-10 play to finish in a tie for third place. They were champions of the A-10 tournament to earn the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the second round to UConn. Previous season The Hawks were the preseason pick to win the Atlantic 10 Conference. However, they did not meet expectations and finished with an 8–8 record in the conference. Phil Martelli
Philip Martelli Sr. (born August 31, 1954) is an American college basketball coach, who was recently the associate head coach for the Michigan Wolverines men's basketball, Michigan Wolverines. As the former head coach of the Saint Joseph's Hawks men's basketball, St. Joseph's Hawks, he led Saint Joseph's to seven NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA Tournaments and six National Invitation Tournament appearances in 24 seasons as head coach. Early life Martelli was born on August 31, 1954, in Media, Pennsylvania. He attended high school at St. Joseph's Preparatory School, St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia, graduating in 1972. He played basketball on the 1970-71 team that won the Catholic League title under coach Edward Burke (basketball), Eddie Burke. DeAndre' Bembry
DeAndre' Pierre' Bembry (born July 4, 1994) is an American former professional basketball player who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for Saint Joseph's University. He was named Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year in 2016, becoming the first Hawk to receive the honor since Ahmad Nivins in 2009. He was also named first-team All-Atlantic 10 for the second year in a row and was named to the All-Defensive Team. He was drafted 21st overall in the 2016 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks.
