2013–14 Iowa State Cyclones Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball team represented Iowa State University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cyclones were coached by Fred Hoiberg, who was in his 4th season. They played their home games at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa and competed in the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 28–8, 11–7 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for third place. They defeated Kansas State, Kansas, and Baylor to become champions of the Big 12 Conference tournament to earn and automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. In the NCAA Tournament they defeated North Carolina Central and North Carolina to advance to the Sweet Sixteen where they lost to eventual national champion UConn without the Cyclones' third-leading scorer Georges Niang who suffered a season ending injury in the opening round game. Fred Hoiberg
Fredrick Kristian Hoiberg (born October 15, 1972) is an American college basketball coach and former player. He has served as the men's head basketball coach at the University of Nebraska since 2019. Hoiberg grew up in Ames, Iowa, and played college basketball at Iowa State University in Ames where he earned the nickname "the Mayor". He was drafted into the National Basketball Association (NBA) where, over his 10-year career, he played for the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, and Minnesota Timberwolves. After retiring as a player, he served as vice president for basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves before beginning his coaching career at his alma mater, Iowa State University. Monté Morris
Monté Robert Morris ( ; born June 27, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Iowa State Cyclones. Early life Morris was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and his mother is Latonia Morris. His mother nicknamed him "Man-Man" when he was born. Tyrus Bresdon McGee (born March 14, 1991) is an American professional basketball player who last played for SIG Strasbourg of the French LNB Pro A. He has previously played for Iowa State. William Dalen Clyburn (born May 17, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for Virtus Bologna of the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) and the EuroLeague. Clyburn attended three colleges, from 2008 to 2013: Marshalltown Community College, University of Utah, and Iowa State University before playing professionally in Germany, Israel, Turkey, and Russia. Chris Babb (born February 14, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque of the French LNB Pro A.
