2013–14 Elitserien (men's Handball)
The 2013–14 Elitserien was the 80th season of the top division of Swedish handball. 14 teams competed in the league. The eight highest placed teams qualified for the playoffs, whereas teams 11–13 had to play relegation playoffs against teams from the second division, and team 14 was relegated automatically. Eskilstuna Guif won the regular season, but Alingsås HK won the playoffs and claimed their second Swedish title. Handbollsligan ''(literally, "The Handball league")'' is the highest league in the league system of Swedish handball, and comprises the top 14 Swedish handball teams. The first season began in 1931–32. The season ends with a playoff. Structure The season starts in September with a regular season comprising 14 teams meeting each other twice. A total of 26 rounds. The eight best teams after the regular season qualifies for the play-off. The 14th team is relegated, and the 11th, 12th and 13th team plays matches against the second, third and fourth from Allsvenskan to qualify for next season's Handbollsligan. The season ends with the finals in the beginning of May and the winning team qualifies directly to EHF European League and the losing team qualifies for the EHF European Cup. HK Drott Halmstad is a handball club, based in Halmstad, Sweden. The club has won the Swedish Championship eleven times, last in 2013. Together with Redbergslids IK, HK Drott have dominated Swedish handball between 1984 and 2003. This club has had many famous players, among them Magnus Andersson, Ola Lindgren, Bengt Johansson and Göran Bengtsson. History The founding HK Drott was founded on 10 March 1936 by Lars-Erik Dymne, Erik Månsson, Arvid Fridh and Ingvar Svensson, all 13 years of age; the club was originally formed as a football club. A few games were then played in 1937, with HK Drott winning all games played in the rural areas, while at least 3 of the games played in town were lost. The club also bought their first sports kit, based on the Arsenal F.C. model, and for practice the club rented I 16's gym. Ystads IF is a professional handball club from Ystad, Sweden. They play in Handbollsligan. They won the Swedish Championship in 1976, 1992, 2022 and 2025. History 1908-1960 Ystads IF was founded in 1908 and took up handball on the programme in 1929. In 1933–34, the club won an unofficial six-team league consisting of teams from the cities of Ystad and Kristianstad. In the same season, they made their debut in Svenska mästerskapet (SM), a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions. They were eliminated by Flottans IF Karlskrona in their first match. Ystads IF played in the highest division, at the time known as Allsvenskan, for the first time in 1940–41, but were relegated after one season. Rimbo HK
Rimbo () is a locality situated in Norrtälje Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden, with 4,629 inhabitants in 2010. Rimbo is located about west of the municipal seat of Norrtälje. Rimbo grew up as a railhead at the junction between the narrow gauge railways to Uppsala and Norrtälje (1884), Stockholm (1885) and Hallstavik (1896). The last line (to Stockholm, part of Roslagsbanan) was closed in 1981. A formal decision has been taken to reopen the 14 km line to KÃ¥rsta (the present northern terminus of Roslagsbanan), but no funds have been allocated. Önnereds HK
Önnereds HK is a handball club based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Around 60 teams are organized in the club. Since 1965, handball has been played in the Gothenburg district of Önnered. In 1985, the club was split into a football and a handball department. The handball club moved to the Älvsborg district. In 1992, the ÖHK-hallen was built, which has been the club's home ground since then and now hold up to 1000 spectators. In addition to the large hall, the club also has two smaller ones. The women's team played in the top Swedish division, the Elitserien, in the 2009/10 season. After being relegated in Summer 2010, they compete in the Allsvenskan. H 43 Lund
H43 Lund is a handball team from Sweden. The club played in the Elitserien but after bankruptcy in 2014 they no longer exist. The youth club under the same name is a new club founded in 2015 under same short name (but not same full name) The club was founded in 1943 in a school class in Lund. Their teacher Y. Wallmer helped the boys found the club at a local café. 13 years later the club was playing in Sweden's highest division. H43 Lund played in "allsvenskan" for 14 years 1956-1970 before they were relegated to the second division. After nine years they were back in the top division but now only for seven years. In 2000 H43 Lund was back in "Elitserien" and stayed there for 12 years. During 2012/13 H43 played one year in division 2 but then came back. Economic bankruptcy in 2014 ended the history of the club. IFK Skövde
IFK Skövde is a Swedish handball club from the city of Skövde, whose roots can be traced back to 1907. The current organization, however, got its shape through a reorganization in 1991. The team has been in the Handbollsligan (Swedish highest handball league) since the 1990/91 season, when it ended just outside the playoffs.
