2013 World Championships In Athletics – Women's 400 Metres
The women's 400 metres at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium on 10–12 August. Heats started with Christine Ohuruogu leading 6 others under 51 with an exceptionally fast 50.20. 50 seconds was the order of the semifinal day. Six finalists dipped under 50, and Kseniya Ryzhova was lucky Amantle Montsho had gapped the first semi with the leading qualifier of 49.56. Ryzhova cruised in with a 50.48 to be the second automatic qualifier. Five others ran personal bests attempting to qualify. The fast semifinals slowed the majority of the field. Christine Ohuruogu
Christine Ijeoma Ohuruogu (born 17 May 1984) is a British former track and field athlete who specialised in the 400 metres, the event for which she is an Olympic, World and Commonwealth champion. The Olympic champion in 2008, and silver medalist in 2012, she is a double World Champion, having won the 400 m at the 2007 and 2013 World Championships. Ma Yuqin (born 11 September 1972 in Xingtai) is a Chinese sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. Early years In 1988, Ma joined the Hebei Track and Field team. Her talent was revealed during the 1990 edition of the Asian junior championships. There, she took part in the 400 metres and the 4 x 400 metres relay. Falilat Ogunkoya-Osheku (born 5 December 1968 in Ode Lemo, Ogun State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian former track and field athlete who holds the distinction of becoming the first Nigerian to win an individual track and field medal at the Olympic Games.
