2013 Women's EuroHockey Championship III
The 2013 Women's EuroHockey Championship III was the fifth edition of the Women's EuroHockey Championship III, the third level of the women's European field hockey championships organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was held in Athens, Greece alongside the 2013 Men's EuroHockey Championship IV, Men's EuroHockey Championship IV from 21 to 26 July 2013. Wales women's national field hockey team, Wales won its second Women's EuroHockey Championship III, EuroHockey Championship III title and were promoted to the 2015 Women's EuroHockey Championship II, 2015 EuroHockey Championship II together with the Czech Republic women's national field hockey team, Czech Republic. Women's EuroHockey Championship III
The Women's EuroHockey Championship III, formerly known as the Women's EuroHockey Nations Challenge I, is a competition for European national field hockey teams. It is the third level of European field hockey Championships for national teams. This is the lowest tier and there is promotion to the second tier. The two first ranked teams qualify for the next Women's EuroHockey Championship II and are replaced by the two lowest-ranked teams from that tournament. The tournament has been won by eight different teams: Wales and Turkey have the most titles with two and the Czech Republic, France, Lithuania, Russia, Switzerland and Ukraine have all won the tournament once. Field Hockey
Field hockey (or simply referred to as hockey in some countries where ice hockey is not popular) is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with 11 players in total, made up of 10 field players and a goalkeeper. Teams must move a hockey ball around a field by hitting it with a field hockey stick, hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal (sports), goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, although grass has become increasingly rare as a playing surface. Indoor hockey is usually played on a synthetic hard court or hardwood sports flooring, and beach version is played on sand. The 2015 Women's EuroHockey Championship II was the 6th edition of the Women's EuroHockey Championship II, a field hockey championship for women. It was held from the 19th until the 27th of July 2015 in Prague, Czech Republic. Qualified teams Format The eight teams were split into two groups of four teams. The top two teams advanced to the semifinals to determine the winner in a knockout system. The bottom two teams played in a new group with the teams they did not play against in the group stage.
