2013 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship
The 2013 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship was the seventeenth edition of the Asian Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA). The tournament was held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from 13 to 21 September 2013. Nakhon Ratchasima
Nakhon Ratchasima (, ) is the capital of Nakhon Ratchasima province, the largest city in Isan, Northeastern Thailand and the List of municipalities in Thailand#Largest cities by urban population, third-largest city in Thailand. 2013 FIVB Women's World Grand Champions Cup
The 2013 FIVB Women's World Grand Champions Cup was held in Nagoya and Tokyo, Japan from November 12 to 17, 2013. Brazil won their second title and Brazilian Fabiana Claudino was selected the Most Valuable Player. Teams Competition formula The competition formula of the 2013 Women's World Grand Champions Cup was a single Round-Robin system. Each team played once against each of the five remaining teams. Points were accumulated during the whole tournament, and the final standing was determined by the total points gained. Kim Yeon-koung
Kim Yeon-koung (, ; born 26 February 1988) is a Korean people, South Korean professional volleyball player and a former member of the FIVB Athletes' Commission. She is an outside hitter and the former captain of the South Korea women's national volleyball team, South Korean National Team. She announced her retirement from the national team in August 2021. Kim signed a three-year contract with Fenerbahçe in 2011 after playing for Incheon Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders, Heungkuk Life in South Korea for four seasons and JT Marvelous in Japan for two seasons. Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai (; RTGS: Kiattiphong Ratchatakriangkrai, born July 17, 1966, in Nakhon Ratchasima), popularly known as Coach Aod (), was the head coach of the Thailand women's national volleyball team. He got bachelor's degree from Kasetsart University He was a member of Thailand men's national volleyball team and, following retirement from playing, became a staff coach in Thailand's national volleyball team. Coach Aod learn how to coach volleyball from a Chinese coach before becoming a head coach. In December 2014 he married Feng Kun. In 2016, Coach Aod decided to end his tenure as national team coach to spend more time with his family. Malika Kanthong (, born January 8, 1987) is a member of the Thailand women's national volleyball team. Career Malika won the Best Server individual award of the 2015–16 Azerbaijan Super League season, playing with Azeryol Baku, that lost to Lokomotiv Baku the bronze medal 0-3. She played in the 2010 and the 2011 Club World Championship placing fifth with the Thai club Federbrau and Chang. Nootsara Tomkom (; ) is a Thai volleyball player who plays for the Columbus Fury of the Pro Volleyball Federation. Widely regarded as one of the best setters in international volleyball, Tomkom has been selected to play for the Thailand women's national volleyball team over 50 times. Career She participated at the 2006 FIVB World Grand Prix. Tomkom played along Wilavan Apinyapong with the Spanish club IBSA Club Voleibol for the 2007/2008 season of the Spanish Superliga. Onuma Sittirak
Onuma Sittirak (, , ; born June 13, 1986, in Khian Sa) is a Thai volleyball player and was a member of Thailand women's national volleyball team. She graduated from Ratna Bundit University. Career Onuma started playing volleyball as a spiker for Thailand's national team in 2006. In 2009, she helped the Thai team won the Asian Championship for the first time and was also awarded the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. During the tournament, she was called "Thailand's Toy Cannon" in an article by the Asian Volleyball Confederation. In addition, Onuma won the 2009 Asian Club Championship with her team Federbrau and was selected as the Most Valuable Player and Best Spiker. She repeated as champion in the 2010 Asian Club Championship and also won the Best Spiker and Best Scorer of the event. Pleumjit Thinkaow
Pleumjit Thinkaow (; ; born 9 November 1983) is a Thai volleyball player. She was a member of the Thailand women's national volleyball team. Her international debut was at the 21st SEA Games in Malaysia. Personal life Pleumjit grew up in a sport-loving family in Angthong (a province about 100 km. north of Bangkok), having an elder brother. Her parents are civil servants. Before she started playing volleyball, she was into table tennis. She switched to volleyball following her father's advice that volleyball was more fun and more likely to become popular. Afterwards, a volleyball coach of Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) School in Bangkok was so impressed by her playing that he brought her to the school during her high-school level.
