2012–13 Western Illinois Leathernecks Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 Western Illinois Leathernecks men's basketball team represented Western Illinois University during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Leathernecks, led by fifth year head coach Jim Molinari, played their home games at Western Hall and were members of The Summit League. They finished the season 22–9, 13–3 in Summit League play to claim a share of the regular season conference title. They advanced to the semifinals of 2013 The Summit League men's basketball tournament, The Summit League tournament where they lost to North Dakota State. Jim Molinari
James R. Molinari (born December 26, 1954) is an American basketball coach. Molinari is an assistant coach at Boston College Eagles men's basketball, Boston College. Prior to his stint at Boston College, Molinari was an assistant coach at Oklahoma Sooners men's basketball, Oklahoma from 2019 to 2021. He formerly served as an assistant coach at Nebraska Cornhuskers men's basketball, Nebraska and as former head coach of the Western Illinois University Western Illinois Leathernecks, Leathernecks, where he served from 2008 to 2014. Prior to being named coach at WIU, Molinari was as assistant coach at Ball State University after serving as the interim head coach at the University of Minnesota, replacing Dan Monson on November 30, 2006, and being succeeded by Tubby Smith on March 22, 2007. Vadalabene Center
The Sam M. Vadalabene Center is a multi-purpose sports and recreation building on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) that features an arena (known as "First Community Arena" for sponsorship reasons) with a seating capacity of just over 4,000. The Vadalabene, which opened in 1984, was named in honor of Illinois State Senator Sam M. Vadalabene (1914–1994), who was a long-time and ardent supporter of the university. The Vad Pad is home to the SIUE Cougars basketball, volleyball, and wrestling teams.
