2012–13 Vanderbilt Commodores Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 Vanderbilt Commodores Men's Basketball Team represented Vanderbilt University in the 2012–13 college basketball season. The team's head coach was Kevin Stallings, in his fourteenth season at Vanderbilt. The team plays their home games at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tennessee, as a member of the Southeastern Conference. Previous season After a 21–10 regular season that fell short of lofty preseason expectations, the Commodores captured their first SEC tournament championship in 61 seasons on March 11, 2012, by defeating top-ranked Kentucky in the SEC Tournament finals. The Commodores advanced to their third consecutive NCAA tournament where they defeated Harvard in the second round before falling the third round to Wisconsin to finish the season 25–11. Kevin Stallings
Kevin Eugene Stallings (born October 1, 1960) is an American former basketball coach, who formerly served as the head coach at Illinois State University, Vanderbilt University and the University of Pittsburgh. He was an assistant coach at Purdue University and the University of Kansas. Playing career Stallings was born in Collinsville, Illinois. He graduated from Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois in 1978, where he played guard (6'5", 190 lbs.) for four years under legendary coach Vergil Fletcher and won three conference championships. The Kahoks went 30–1 his junior season and lost to De La Salle Institute, De La Salle in the first round of the Illinois state tournament, 67–66. Dan Muller (basketball)
Daniel Paul Muller (born February 21, 1976) is an American college basketball coach, formerly the men's basketball head coach at his alma mater Illinois State University. Biography Muller was born in Lafayette, Indiana to parents Cliff and Tricia. He attended Lafayette Central Catholic High School, graduating in 1994. After high school, Muller attended Illinois State University. On the Illinois State Redbirds men's basketball team, Muller played as a forward from 1994 to 1998 under head coach Kevin Stallings. In his sophomore season, the team finished second in the MVC regular season, and fell to Tulsa in the semifinals of the conference tournament. They earned a bid to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), where they advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Tulane. 2012 NBA Draft
The 2012 NBA draft was held on June 28, 2012, at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The draft started at 7:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time (2300 UTC), and was broadcast in the United States on ESPN. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players.
