2012–13 Minnesota Golden Gophers Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team represented the University of Minnesota in the 2012-13 college basketball season. It was the sixth and final season for team's head coach, Tubby Smith, who was fired shortly after the conclusion of the season. The Golden Gophers, members of the Big Ten Conference, played their home games at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They finished with a record of 21–13 overall, 8–10 in Big Ten for a three-way tie for 7th place. They lost to Illinois in the first round in the 2013 Big Ten Conference men's basketball tournament. They were invited to the 2013 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament and lost in the third round to Florida. Coach Tubby Smith's firing was announced on March 25, 2013. Tubby Smith
Orlando Henry "Tubby" Smith (born June 30, 1951) is an American college basketball coach who last coached the men's basketball team at High Point University, his alma mater. Smith previously served in the same role at the University of Tulsa, the University of Georgia, the University of Kentucky, the University of Minnesota, Texas Tech University, and the University of Memphis. With Kentucky, he coached the Wildcats to the 1998 NCAA championship. In his 31 years as a head coach, Smith achieved 26 winning seasons. In 2005, he joined Roy Williams, Nolan Richardson, Denny Crum, and Jim Boeheim as the only head coaches to win 365 games in 15 seasons or fewer. Maverick Ahanmisi
Maverick Frankera Ahanmisi (born July 17, 1991) is an American-born Filipino-Nigerian professional basketball player for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). High school career Ahanmisi spent a year at Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, California, but he graduated from Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, California in 2009. Hopkins High School is a public high school located in Minnetonka, Minnesota, United States. Hopkins High School is part of the Hopkins School District 270. History In the 1970s, there were two high schools in the district: Dwight D. Eisenhower Senior High School, named for the former general and U.S. president and Charles A. Joe Coleman (basketball)
Joe Coleman (born June 16, 1993) is an American basketball player. He was named 2011 Minnesota Mr. Basketball and was a Top 100 ESPN Recruit. He was also a contestant on ''The Bachelorette''. High school career Coleman is a 2011 graduate from Hopkins High School. He led the school to three state championships in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
