2012–13 Long Beach State 49ers Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 Long Beach State 49ers men's basketball team represented California State University, Long Beach during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 49ers, led by sixth year head coach Dan Monson, played their home games at Walter Pyramid and were members of the Big West Conference. With the departure of conference player of the year Casper Ware, James Ennis became the go to player for the 49ers in 2012–13. He responded by averaging 16.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and leading the 49ers to another regular season Big West championship. At the end of the season, Ennis was named Big West Player of the Year and an AP honorable mention All-American. Following the close of his senior year, Ennis was named to the Reese's College All-Star Game, where he led the East team in scoring with 13 points, including a pair of baskets that clinched the game. Dan Monson
Daniel Lloyd Monson (born October 6, 1961) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach at Eastern Washington. He was previously the head coach at Long Beach State for 17 seasons. He was also the head coach at Minnesota for over seven seasons, reaching postseason play five times. Before coaching the Gophers, he was the head coach at Gonzaga for two seasons, leading the team on an improbable run to the Elite Eight during his last season. Early years Monson is the son of college basketball coach Don Monson, and spent most of his early years in eastern Washington, where his father was a successful high school head coach in Cheney and Pasco for 18 seasons. 2012–13 North Carolina Tar Heels Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team's head coach was Roy Williams, who is in his 10th season as UNC's head men's basketball coach. They played their home games at the Dean E. Galen Center
The Galen Center is a multipurpose indoor arena and athletic facility owned and operated by the University of Southern California. Located at the southeast corner of Jefferson Boulevard and Figueroa Street in the Exposition Park area of Los Angeles, California, United States, it is right across the street from the campus and near the Shrine Auditorium. The 2012–13 USC Trojans men's basketball team represented the University of Southern California during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by fourth year head coach Kevin O'Neill until January 14 when O'Neill was fired. Bob Cantu was named as an interim head coach for the remainder.
