2012–13 Houston Cougars Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 Houston Cougars men's basketball team represented the University of Houston during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cougars, led by third year head coach James Dickey, played their home games at Hofheinz Pavilion and participated as a member of Conference USA. The season marked the last for the Cougars as a member of C-USA as they joined the American Athletic Conference in July 2013. The Cougars ended the regular season with a 3-game winning streak and a 7–9 conference record. This placed the team as the number six seed in the C-USA tournament and a matchup with cross-town rival Rice in the first round. The Cougars won the game 72–67 and advanced to the quarterfinals to face UTEP where they lost 80–69. James Dickey (basketball, Born 1954)
James Allen Dickey (born April 2, 1954) is an American college basketball coach and current Senior Advisor of men's basketball at West Virginia University. He was most recently an assistant coach at Oklahoma State University. He previously served as the men's head coach at Texas Tech University from 1991 to 2001, where he led the Red Raiders to the NCAA tournament in 1993 and again in 1996, and at the University of Houston from 2010 to 2014. Biography Early years Dickey attended Valley Springs High School, where he played basketball from 1970 to 1972. He later played for Central Arkansas from 1972 to 1976. Coaching career Dickey's best team was the Texas Tech's 1996 unit, which finished 30–2, including an undefeated record in the final season of Southwest Conference play. Killeen, Texas
Killeen is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, located in Bell County. According to the 2020 census, its population was 153,095, making it the 19th-most populous city in Texas and the largest of the three principal cities of Bell County. TaShawn Thomas
TaShawn Thomas (born February 27, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for Le Mans of the LNB Pro A. He played college basketball for the University of Houston and the University of Oklahoma before playing professionally in Germany, Italy, Israel, France and Australia. In 2019, he was named the Israeli State Cup MVP and the Israeli League Defensive Player of the Year. College career A forward from Las Vegas, Nevada, Thomas played three seasons at Houston. Danuel Kennedy House Jr. (born June 7, 1993) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
