2012–13 DePaul Blue Demons Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball team represented DePaul University during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Blue Demons, led by third year head coach Oliver Purnell, played their home games at the Allstate Arena, with two home games at Sullivan Athletic Center, McGrath-Phillips Arena, and were members of the Big East Conference (1979–2013), Big East Conference. They finished the season 11–21, 2–16 in Big East play to finish in last place. They lost in the first round of the 2013 Big East men's basketball tournament, Big East tournament to Rutgers. This was DePaul's final season as a member of the original Big East Conference (now known as the American Athletic Conference or The American). Oliver Purnell
Oliver Gordon Purnell Jr. (born May 19, 1953) is an American former college basketball coach. He served as the head men's basketball coach at Radford University from 1988 to 1991, Old Dominion University from 1991 to 1994, the University of Dayton from 1994 to 2003, Clemson University from 2003 to 2010, and DePaul University from 2010 to 2015, compiling a career record of 448–386. Early years Purnell was born in Berlin, Maryland, the second of Oliver Sr. and Phyllis' four children. He attended Stephen Decatur High School (Maryland), Stephen Decatur High School, where he played on the boys' basketball team that captured the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association Class B championship in 1970. 2012–13 UC Riverside Highlanders Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 UC Riverside Highlanders men's basketball team represented University of California, Riverside during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Highlanders, led by sixth year head coach Jim Wooldridge, played their home games at the Student Recreation Center Arena and were members of the Big West Conference. Due to low APR scores, the Highlanders were ineligible for post season play, including the Big West Tournament. They finished the season 6–25, 3–15 in Big West play to finish in last place. On December 15, the Highlanders tied the Big West conference record for fewest points scored in a single game, in a 26–70 loss at USC. It was also a school record for the fewest points scored in a game, breaking the previous record of 30 points which they had set earlier in the season against Fresno State in November. Brandon Young (born November 16, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for Fos Provence Basket of the LNB Pro B. After four years at DePaul University, Young entered the 2014 NBA draft but was not selected in the draft's two rounds. College career Young chose to play college basketball at DePaul after finishing high school at Friendship Collegiate Academy.
