2012–13 Arkansas Razorbacks Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team represented the University of Arkansas in the 2012–13 college basketball season. The team's head coach is Mike Anderson, who completed his second season at Arkansas after posting an 18–14 record during the 2011–12 season, where the Razorbacks finished ninth in the SEC. Arkansas finished seventh in the SEC, but a 1–12 record away from the state of Arkansas kept it from participating in the postseason. The team played their home games at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas, as a member of the SEC. Mike Anderson (basketball, Born 1959)
Michael Andre Anderson (born December 12, 1959) is an American basketball coach, most recently the head coach of the St. John's Red Storm. He came to St. John's after previously serving as head coach at UAB, Missouri and Arkansas. He also served as an assistant/associate head coach under Nolan Richardson at Arkansas for 17 years. Over his 20 seasons as a head coach, Anderson has compiled a 414–235 record, 11 20-win campaigns, 9 NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16 berths and a run to the 2009 Elite Eight. Anderson is one of just 3 current Division I head coaches with 15+ years of experience and no losing seasons, along with Mark Few and Tom Izzo. Orleans Arena is a 9,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Paradise, Nevada, in the Las Vegas Valley. Las Vegas Invitational (basketball)
The Las Vegas Invitational was an 8 team college basketball tournament held during Thanksgiving of NCAA Division I men's college basketball season annually since 2003. The Tournament was originally held in the gymnasium of Valley High School, until moving to the new Orleans Arena in 2006. The tourney launched with local car dealer Findlay Toyota as its sponsor. From 2006 to 2013 the sponsor of the tournament was IBN Sports. Continental Tire is the current sponsor of the tournament. Fox Sports purchased the event and the Las Vegas Classic in 2015. The 2012–13 Longwood Lancers men's basketball team represented Longwood University during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Lancers, led by tenth year head coach Mike Gillian, played their home games at Willett Hall and were members of the North Division of the Big South Conference. This was the Lancers first season in the Big South. They finished the season 8–25, 4–12 in Big South play to finish in last place in the North Division. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big South tournament to VMI; the tournament constituted Longwood's first postseason appearance as a Division I school. LeMoyne–Owen College (LOC or "LeMoyne-Owen") is a private historically black college affiliated with the United Church of Christ and located in Memphis, Tennessee. It resulted from the 1968 merger of historically black colleges and other schools established by northern Protestant missions during and after the American Civil War. Southwest Baptist University (SBU) is a private Baptist university in Bolivar, Missouri, United States. It is affiliated with the Missouri Baptist Convention, which is part of the Southern Baptist Convention. In 2023, it had a total enrollment of 2,168 students. History Abner S. Ingman and James R. Maupin founded Southwest Baptist College in 1878 in Lebanon, Missouri. The Lebanon campus originally had an enrollment of 60 students and six faculty. Melvin Lenzo Watkins (born November 15, 1954) is an American former college basketball coach and former player. Early years Born in Reidsville, North Carolina, Melvin Watkins attended Reidsville High School. Watkins started for the Reidsville High basketball team for from 1970 to 1973. As a senior, he was named team captain and, after helping the team earn the state championship, was named a 1973 high school All-American. Playing career Watkins played college basketball at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he was the point guard and team captain of the Charlotte 49ers' 1977 Final Four team. While at Charlotte, Watkins made a point to complete his education, earning a B.A. in Economics in 1977.
