2012 SWAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2012 SWAC men's basketball tournament will take place March 7–10 at the Garland Special Events Center in Garland, Texas. The winner of the tournament received the Southwestern Athletic Conference's automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA tournament. Format Eight teams qualified for the tournament. Garland Special Events Center
The Curtis Culwell Center (formerly the Garland Special Events Center) is a 6,860-fixed seat arena (8,500 full capacity) and conference center in Garland, Texas. It opened in 2005 and was designed by HKS, Inc. and constructed at a cost of $31.5 million by Lee Lewis Construction with engineering by Walter P. Moore, Blum Consulting Engineers, and RLK Engineers Inc. The arena is the property of the Garland Independent School District (GISD). Events It is used by the men's basketball teams of the GISD. 2011–12 Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils basketball team represented Mississippi Valley State University during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Delta Devils, led by fourth year head coach Sean Woods, played their home games at Harrison HPER Complex and are members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Delta Devils finished the season 21–13, 17–1 in SWAC play to be crowned SWAC regular season champions. They also won the SWAC Basketball tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid into the 2012 NCAA tournament. It was the Delta Devils fifth NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2008.
