2012 MAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2012 Mid-American Conference men's basketball tournament is the post-season men's basketball tournament for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) 2011–12 college basketball season. Third-seeded Ohio won the tournament received the MAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship tournament. There they defeated Michigan and South Florida before losing to North Carolina in overtime in the Sweet sixteen. DJ Cooper of Ohio was named the tournament MVP. Format The format for the conference tournament has been modified for this season. The new format seeds the tournament by rewarding the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds with a bye into the semifinal round, while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will receive a bye to the quarterfinal round. Seeding will be determined by winning percentage in conference games, regardless of division. First round games will be played on campus sites at the higher seed. The 2011–12 Ohio Bobcats men's basketball team represented Ohio University during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bobcats, led by fourth year head coach John Groce, played their home games at the Convocation Center and are members of the East Division of the Mid-American Conference. Mitchell Watt (basketball)
Mitchell Watt (born December 14, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for Reyer Venezia of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) and the EuroCup. He played college basketball for the University at Buffalo, where he was an All-American and Mid-American Conference (MAC) player of the year. College career Watt, a 6'10" forward-center from Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona, came to Buffalo to play for coach Reggie Witherspoon. After cracking the starting lineup as a freshman in 2008–09, Watt established himself as one of the top defensive players in the MAC, earning the nickname sWatt. As a sophomore, Watt battled Guillain–Barré syndrome, which limited his effectiveness. His role was largely as a rebounder and defensive stopper his first three years. Justin Greene
Justin Pierre Greene (born August 13, 1989) is an American retired basketball player and current coach. He played college basketball for the NCAA Division I Kent State Golden Flashes. On May 20, 2008, Greene committed to attend Kent State University. In his freshman season, Greene saw limited playing time, averaging 8.8 minutes per game and 2.2 points per game. His minutes per game increased to 28.1 in his sophomore season and his points per game also went up to 13.6 to go along 6.9 rebounds per game. In Greene's junior season, he averaged 15.4 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game and 1.6 assists per game, which was good enough for him to be recognized as the Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year.
