2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Women's Pentathlon
The women's pentathlon at the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place March 9 at the Ataköy Athletics Arena. 8 athletes from 6 countries participated. Ukrainian Nataliya Dobrynska won with a world record points total of 5013, breaking the previous record of 4991 held by Irina Belova. Medalists Records Qualification standards Eight (8) athletes will be invited by the IAAF in the Heptathlon and in the Pentathlon as follows: # the three best athletes from the previous year's Outdoor Lists (as at 31 December), limited to a maximum of one per country and # the three best athletes from the Indoor Lists during the year of the Competition # two athletes which may be invited at the discretion of the IAAF In total no more than two male and two female athletes from any one Member will be invited. Themis Zambrzycki (married name Glatman) (born October 20, 1960) is a retired Brazilian multi-sport athlete and tennis player. She was the 1976 South American Junior Champion in the long jump, shot put and pentathlon, plus the silver medalist in the 100 metres hurdles. In 1977 she competed at the senior level South American Championships, taking silver in the hurdles, long jump and pentathlon. In 1979, she won the long jump and pentathlon, with a silver in the shot put. Jane Jamieson (born 23 June 1975) is a track and field athlete from Australia. Jamieson competed in the heptathlon in the Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games, finishing with Top-10 results at each level, including a gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. After the 2000 Olympic Games, Jamieson was hampered by a string of knee, hamstring and calf injuries and missed the 2004 Olympic Games. Jamieson returned from injury to qualify for the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, but failed to complete the competition after suffering a calf strain to her left leg combining with the hamstring injury she suffered six weeks before the start of the Melbourne Games. Hyleas Fountain (born January 14, 1981) is an American heptathlete. She was the silver medalist in the event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Career Early years Fountain was born in Columbus, Georgia, and was a member of the 1992 Harrisburg Parks and Recreation track club under coach Horace Camero, until 1994 Greater Paxtonia Track Club under coach Darnell L Williams. She attended Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she was under the coaching of Al Moten, Fred Leuschner, Jim Seidler, and Braden Cook.
