2012 European Curling Championships
The 2012 European Curling Championships was held from December 7 to 15 at the Löfbergs Lila Arena and the Karlstad Curling Club in Karlstad, Sweden. The Group A competitions was held at the Löfbergs Lila Arena, while the Group B competitions was held at the Karlstad Curling Club. The 2012 European Curling Championships marked the fourth time that Sweden hosted the European Curling Championships. The Group C competitions were held from October 5 to 10 in Erzurum, Turkey. Russia's Anna Sidorova, last year's runner-up, won the gold medal in the women's tournament after defeating last year's champions Scotland, skipped by Eve Muirhead, in the final in an extra end. Sweden's Margaretha Sigfridsson won the bronze medal over Denmark's Lene Nielsen. Karlstad
Karlstad (, ) is the 20th-largest city in Sweden, the seat of Karlstad Municipality, the capital of Värmland County, and the largest city in the province Värmland in Sweden. 2013 European Curling Championships
The 2013 European Curling Championships were held from November 22 to 30 at the Sørmarka Arena in Stavanger, Norway. Norway last hosted the European Curling Championships in 1990. The Group C competitions were held in October at the Tårnby Curling Club in Tårnby, Denmark. At the conclusion of the championships, the top eight women's teams advanced to the 2014 Ford World Women's Curling Championship, and the top eight men's teams advanced to the 2014 World Men's Curling Championship. Rasmus Stjerne Hansen (born 26 May 1988 in Hvidovre) is a Danish curler. He is a former world junior champion and world men's silver medalist. He curls out of the Hvidovre Curling Club. Career Stjerne participated in six World Junior Championships. He played as third for Kenneth Jørgensen in 2004 and 2005, finishing outside of the playoffs in both years. He then skipped his own team at the World Juniors in 2006, 2007, and 2008, finishing fifth, fourth, and seventh, respectively. Jiří Snítil (born 24 February 1975) is a curler from the Czech Republic. He currently skips the Czech Republic national team. He started curling at the age of 21. Lene Nielsen
Lene Nielsen (born 31 August 1986 in Hvidovre) is a Danish curler. She was the skip of the 2014 Danish Olympic Curling Team. Career Nielsen played in her first international events in 2004, as an alternate for the Madeleine Dupont rink. Even though she was an alternate, she played many games. At the 2004 World Junior Curling Championships, the team finished 6th and at the 2004 Ford World Women's Curling Championship they finished in 8th. They finished in 8th place at the 2004 European Curling Championships. Later that season, Nielsen was promoted to third on the team and they won a silver medal at the 2005 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival. She then played second on the team at the 2005 World Junior Curling Championships, where the rink finished 4th. At the 2005 World Women's Curling Championship, the rink finished in 10th. Margaretha Sigfridsson
Margaretha Sigfridsson (born 28 January 1976) is a Swedish curler who in 2009 was inducted into the Swedish Curling Hall of Fame. Curling career Early career Sigfridsson skipped the Swedish team at the 1997 World Junior Curling Championships, winning the silver medal. Sweden lost in the final game 11–3 to Scotland, skipped by Julia Ewart. Sigfridsson was the Swedish skip at the 2002 Ford World Women's Curling Championship. Once again, she won a silver medal, and once again lost to Scotland (this time, skipped by Jackie Lockhart) in the final.
