The 2011–12 in English football, 2011–12 season was West Ham United F.C., West Ham Uniteds first season back in the Football League Championship, after being relegated from the Premier League at the conclusion of 2010–11 West Ham United F.C. season, 2010–11 campaign. They also competed in the 2011–12 Football League Cup, League Cup and the 2011–12 FA Cup, FA Cup. It was their first season under Sam Allardyce, who was appointed in May 2011 after the sacking of the club's previous manager, Avram Grant. Kevin Nolan
Kevin Anthony Jance Nolan (born 24 June 1982) is an English former professional footballer and coach, who manages Northampton Town. He has represented England at under-21 level. After growing up in Toxteth, Liverpool, Nolan signed for Bolton Wanderers at the age of 16. Part of the team that beat Preston North End in the 2001 First Division play-offs to gain promotion to the Premier League, he soon became a regular first-team player for the club. George McCartney (footballer)
George McCartney (born 29 April 1981) is a Northern Irish former footballer who is a coach at Linfield. He began his career at Sunderland in 1998 before having two spells each with West Ham United and Leeds United. He won the 2004–05 Football League Championship with Sunderland and was named the club's player of the season award as well as being named in the 2004–05 Football League Championship PFA Team of the Year. He moved to West Ham in 2006 before returning to Sunderland under Roy Keane's managership in 2008. Winston Reid (footballer)
Winston Wiremu Reid (born 3 July 1988) is a New Zealand former footballer. He is most known for his time as a defender with club West Ham United and captaining the New Zealand national team. He has also played for Midtjylland with loan periods at Sporting Kansas City and Brentford. Early life Both Reid's parents have Māori ancestry. Robert Green
Robert Paul Green (born 18 January 1980) is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He played in the Premier League and Football League and for the England national team. Green made his first-team debut for Norwich City in 1999 and totalled 241 appearances across all competitions for them, making the PFA Team of the Year when they won the First Division in 2003–04. In 2006, he transferred to West Ham United, making the same number of appearances in a six-year spell in which he was their Player of the Year in 2008 and won promotion via the Championship play-offs in 2012. Ricardo Jorge Vaz Tê (born 1 October 1986) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a forward. 2012 Football League Play-offs
The Football League play-offs for the 2011–12 season (referred to as the npower Football League Play-Offs for sponsorship reasons) were held in May 2012. All finals took place at Wembley Stadium in London. The play-off semi-finals were played over two legs, contested by the teams who finished in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place in the Football League Championship and League One and the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th-placed teams in the League Two table. The winners of the semi-finals went through to the finals, with the winner of the final gaining promotion for the following season. The semi-final matches were played from 3 to 17 May 2012.
