2011–12 Vermont Catamounts Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Vermont Catamounts men's basketball team represented the University of Vermont during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Catamounts, led by first year head coach John Becker, played their home games at Patrick Gym and are members of the America East Conference. They finished the season 24–12, 13–3 in America East play to finish in second place. They were champions of the America East Basketball tournament and earned the conference's automatic bid into the 2012 NCAA tournament. They defeated Lamar in the ''First Four'' round before falling to North Carolina in the second round. John Becker (basketball)
John Becker (born April 17, 1968) is an American college basketball coach, currently the head coach of the Vermont Catamounts of the America East Conference. He replaced Mike Lonergan, who left to become the coach at George Washington University. On January 5, 2023, Becker became the winningest coach in Vermont history, with a 74–64 win over Bryant, surpassing Tom Brennan. Coaching career Gallaudet/Catholic University Becker's college coaching career began in 1994 when he became an assistant at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. In 1997, Becker was elevated to head coach of the Bison, where he served from 1997 to 1999. Becker also served as the men's tennis coach, despite never playing the game, and also worked in the information technology field, as the coaching positions were part-time. The 2011–12 Long Island Blackbirds men's basketball team represented The Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Blackbirds, led by tenth year head coach Jim Ferry, played their home games at the Athletic, Recreation & Wellness Center and are members of the Northeast Conference. They finished the season 25–9, 16–2 in NEC play to be crowned regular season champions. They also were champions of the Northeast Conference tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid into the 2012 NCAA tournament where they lost in the second round to Michigan State. Uncasville, Connecticut
Uncasville is a village in the town of Montville, Connecticut, United States. It is located in southeastern Montville, at the mouth of the Oxoboxo River where it flows into the Thames River. The name is now applied more generally to all of the east end of Montville, which is the area served by the Uncasville ZIP Code (06382). In 1994, the federal government officially recognized the Mohegan Indian Tribe of Connecticut, which had historically occupied this area as part of its traditional territory. The Red Foxes, led by fourth year head coach Chuck Martin, played their home games at the McCann Arena and were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 14–18, 7–11 in MAAC play to finish eighth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the MAAC tournament to Iona. Edward Leede Arena is a 2,100-seat, multi-purpose arena in Hanover, New Hampshire. It has been home to the men's and women's Dartmouth College Big Green basketball team since its dedication on May 22, 1987. It is located within the John W. Berry Sports Center, which includes Leede Arena; two additional regulation basketball courts; a 4,500-square boxing gym and fencing room; four varsity locker rooms; squash and racquetball courts, and the athletic ticket office.
