2011–12 Temple Owls Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Temple Owls men's basketball team represented Temple University in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team played their home games at the Liacouras Center, which has a capacity of 10,206; as well as one game each at the Palestra and Wells Fargo Center. They are in their 30th season as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. In their previous season, Temple compiled a record of 26–8 and reached the NCAA tournament. The team returned four starters from the previous season, but lost power forward Lavoy Allen to graduation. He is replaced by incoming recruit Will Cummings and transfer Dalton Pepper. Fran Dunphy
Francis Joseph Dunphy (born October 5, 1948) is an American former college basketball coach. He served as the head coach at the University of Pennsylvania for 17 seasons, Temple University for 13 seasons, and La Salle University for three seasons. Originally starting at Penn in 1989, Dunphy led the school to ten Ivy League championships. He was hired at Temple to succeed John Chaney in 2006, spending 13 seasons with the program and making eight NCAA tournament appearances. After a brief stint as Temple's interim athletic director, in 2022, Dunphy was named head coach of the La Salle Explorers, his alma mater, where he coached for three seasons until his retirement in 2025. Nicknamed "Mr. Big 5", Dunphy holds the record for the most career wins (625) by a coach in Philadelphia Big 5 history and has coached three of the six member schools in the city series. Matthew Langel (born November 21, 1977) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach for the Colgate Raiders men's basketball team. He previously served as an assistant for the Temple Owls men's basketball team for five seasons under Fran Dunphy. College career From 1996 to 2000, Langel attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he starred on the Quaker basketball team under coach Fran Dunphy. The 2011 NBA draft was held on June 23, 2011, at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Temple Owls are the college athletics, athletic teams that represent Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 2010–11 San Diego State men's basketball team represented San Diego State University in the 2010–11 college basketball season. It was their 12th season in the Mountain West Conference. This was head coach Steve Fisher's twelfth season at San Diego State. The Aztecs competed in the Mountain West Conference and played their home games at Viejas Arena. Juan Manuel "Lobito" Fernández (born July 22, 1990) is an Argentine-Italian professional basketball player for Reyer Venezia of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). His father, Gustavo, was a point guard for a number of professional basketball teams in Argentina.
