2011–12 Mercer Bears Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Mercer Bears men's basketball team represented Mercer University during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bears, led by fourth year head coach Bob Hoffman, played their home games at the University Center and are members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. They finished the season 27–11, 13–5 in A-Sun play to finish in a tie for second place. They lost in the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun Basketball tournament to Florida Gulf Coast. They were invited to the 2012 CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they defeated Tennessee State, Georgia State, Old Dominion, Fairfield, and Utah State to be the 2012 CIT Champions. Bob Hoffman (basketball)
Bob Hoffman (born July 18, 1957) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach at the University of Central Oklahoma. Early life He is a graduate of Putnam City High School in Warr Acres, Oklahoma and went to Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee to play basketball. He met his wife there and after graduation he was hired at Piedmont High School in Piedmont, Oklahoma just northwest of Oklahoma City. Coaching career He was hired as the head women's basketball coach at Southern Nazarene University, where his team won the NAIA national championship in 1989. From there he returned to his alma mater as men's coach for the following ten years. From OBU he was the coach at University of Texas-Pan American then back to Oklahoma where he served as an assistant to Kelvin Sampson at the University of Oklahoma until Sampson was found to have committed numerous NCAA violations. Mizzou Arena
Mizzou Arena is an indoor arena located on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Home to the school's men's and women's basketball teams, the facility opened in November 2004 and replaced the Hearnes Center (which still hosts all other indoor events) as the school's flagship indoor sports facility. The arena also serves as the Columbia-Jefferson City market's venue for well-known 'arena' acts such as Rascal Flatts, Luke Bryan and the Eagles. The 2011–12 Missouri Tigers men's basketball team represented the University of Missouri in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their head coach was Frank Haith, who was in his 1st year at Missouri. Haith won AP Coach of the Year honors for this season. The team played its home games at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri and they were members of the Big 12 Conference. It was the final year in which the Tigers participated in the Big 12 Conference, as they departed for the Southeastern Conference beginning with the 2012–13 season.
