The 2011–12 Ekstraliga season was the 33rd edition of the competition since its establishment. Ekstraliga (women's Football)
The Ekstraliga (), officially known as Orlen Superliga due to its sponsorship by Orlen, is the top Polish league for women's association football teams. The league's first season was in 1979–80. Initially, it was called ''I liga polska kobiet''. The first title holder was Czarni Sosnowiec. In 2005, the league was renamed to ''Ekstraliga kobiet''. The winner of the league qualifies for the UEFA Women's Champions League. Relegated teams descend to the I liga. Teams Format Up to the 2009–10 season with six teams in the league, the teams played each other four times per season. Thus, each club was totalling 20 matches. The last-place finisher was relegated while the 5th-place finisher played a two-legged relegation play-off. For the 2010–11 season, the whole women's football of Poland was reorganized. Pogoń Szczecin (women)
Pogoń Szczecin is a women's football club from Szczecin, Poland, the women's section of Pogoń Szczecin. One-time league champions, they currently compete in the Ekstraliga, the country's top division. History The team was founded as TKKF Gryf Szczecin. The team reached the Ekstraliga for the first time in 2010. In its debut season in the top division Gryf finished 4th, and it subsequently became Pogoń's women team. It has been successful in the national cup, reaching the final for three seasons in a row between 2009 and 2011. In them Gryf lost once to AZS Wrocław and twice to Unia Racibórz. The team was dissolved after the 2012–13 season. In 2022, the women's football section of Pogoń Szczecin was reactivated by merging the former women's club Olimpia Szczecin with Pogoń Szczecin. Aleksandra Franciszka Rompa ( Sikora; born 7 February 1991) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. Personal life Rompa was born in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, from which she moved out at the age of nine. She worked as a football trainer at a school in Konin and has a UEFA B coaching license. Anna Gawrońska
Anna Gawrońska is a Polish footballer who plays as a striker for Medyk Konin. She was the Ekstraliga's top scorer in 2005–06 and 2007–08 season. She earned 78 caps and scored 11 goals for the Poland national team from 2002 to 2017. After retiring from an active career, she began working as a coach. In January 2011, together with Nina Patalon, she became the head coach of Medyk Konin's first team. TS Mitech Żywiec
TS Mitech Żywiec is a women's association football, women's football club from Żywiec, Poland. They currently compete in the third group of the III liga (women's football), III liga, the fourth level of competition. The team started in March 2003 as the women's section of the club Soła Żywiec and played its first season in the II liga, the then second highest league in Poland. After the first season, the team became independent as TS Mitech Żywiec on 3 July 2004. From 2009 until 2020, Mitech played in the highest league, the Ekstraliga (women's football), Ekstraliga.
