2011 Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship
The 2011 Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship was held at the Walker Complex at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, from 15 to 21 July 2011. It was the first ever wheelchair basketball world championship for women in the under-25 age category. The event was run by Wheelchair Basketball Canada in partnership with Brock University. Eight nations competed: Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and the United States. The event took the form of a round-robin tournament, with each team playing all the other teams once. The top eight teams then went into quarter-finals, while the bottom two played each other for world ranking. The winners of the semi-finals faced each other in the final, while the losers played for bronze. The championship was won by the United States; Australia came second and Great Britain third. Brock University
Brock University is a public research university in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. It is the only university in Canada in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, at the centre of Canada's Niagara Peninsula on the Niagara Escarpment. Georgia Inglis
Georgia Inglis (born 28 March 1994) is a 2.5 point Australian wheelchair basketball player. She was part of the Australia women's national wheelchair basketball team at the Osaka Cup in Japan in February 2013, and at the Asia-Oceania Zone Qualifiers in Bangkok in November 2013. She played with the Perth Western Stars team that won the Women's National Wheelchair basketball League (WNWBL) championship title in 2013. Personal Georgia Inglis was born on 28 March 1994. Helen Freeman (basketball)
Helen Freeman (born 23 November 1989) is a 4.0 point British wheelchair basketball player who represented Great Britain in five European championships, and at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London and the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. Biography Helen Freeman was born in Watford on 23 November 1989. A 4.0 point player, she began playing wheelchair basketball with Aspire Force when she was 12. She played with the national team at the European Championships in Wetzlar, Germany, in 2007, winning bronze. Annabel Breuer
Annabel Breuer (born 23 October 1992) is a wheelchair fencer and 1.5 point wheelchair basketball player. She has played for SKV Ravensburg and Sabres Ulm in the German wheelchair basketball league. In December 2012 she was contracted to play for first division club RSV Lahn-Dill as well as Sabres Ulm. She has also played the national team, with which she won two European titles, was runner-up at 2010 World Championships, and won a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. Maya Lindholm (born 20 December 1990) is a 2.5 point wheelchair basketball player, who played with the German national team that won a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. Linda Dahle
Linda Dahle (born 8 November 1991) is a German 4.5 point national wheelchair basketball player who plays for Hannover United, and for the German national team. She won a bronze medal at the U25 European Wheelchair Basketball Championships in August 2013, where she was the team's top scorer with 42 points. She made her senior national team debut in June 2014, winning silver at the 2014 Women's World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Toronto. Laura Fürst (born 24 April 1991) is a German 2.0 point national wheelchair basketball player who plays in the wheelchair basketball league for RBB Munich, and for the German national team, with which she won silver at the 2014 Women's World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Toronto. Holger Glinicki
Holger Glinicki (born 25 October 1952) is a German wheelchair basketball coach, who coached Hamburger SV. He was assistant coach of the German women's national team from 2003 to 2005. He has been coach of the team since 2006, during which time it has won five European championships, a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing and a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. Tamara Steeves (born September 23, 1989) is a Canadian 1.5 point wheelchair basketball player from Etobicoke, Ontario who won a gold medal in the 2009 Artland Open which was hosted in Quakenbruck, Germany and in 2011 bronze medal at Osaka Cup which was hosted in Osaka, Japan. Jamey Jewells
Jamey Jewells (born August 23, 1989) is Canadian 1.0 point wheelchair basketball player, who has played for Team Canada and the Trier Dolphins in Germany. She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, and raised in Donkin, Nova Scotia. Jewells began playing basketball at the age of seven. In 2003, at the age of fourteen, she was severely injured in a car accident, breaking several ribs and her T12- L1 vertebrae, forcing her to spend close to two years in the hospital. Her occupational therapist suggested to her wheelchair basketball to help her recovery. She had to take some time off from 2007 to 2009 due to health and school, and didn't return until 2010.
