2011 Wimbledon Championships – Men's Singles
Novak Djokovic defeated defending champion Rafael Nadal in the final, 6–4, 6–1, 1–6, 6–3 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2011 Wimbledon Championships. It was his first Wimbledon title, third major title overall, and his first-ever title on grass courts. Nadal's loss ended his 20-match Wimbledon winning streak dating back to 2008 (having missed the 2009 championships due to injury). It was Nadal's fifth non-consecutive and last Wimbledon final. Both Nadal and Djokovic were in contention for the world No. 1 singles ranking. By winning his semifinal match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Djokovic gained the world No. 1 ranking for the first time, and would eventually hold the position for a record total of 428 weeks. Andrew Stephen Roddick (born August 30, 1982) is an American former professional tennis player. He was ranked as the world No. 1 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for 13 weeks, including as the year-end No. 1 in 2003. Roddick won 32 ATP Tour-level singles titles, including a major at the 2003 US Open and five Masters events, and led the United States to the 2007 Davis Cup title. Alexandr Oleksandrovych Dolgopolov (born 7 November 1988), formerly known as Oleksandr Dolgopolov Jr., is a Ukrainian retired professional tennis player. He changed his forename spelling to the current form in May 2010. Florian Mayer (; born 5 October 1983) is a German former professional tennis player. Mayer reached his career-high singles ranking of world No. 18 in June 2011. Viktor Troicki ( sr-Cyrl, Виктор Троицки, ; born 10 February 1986) is a Serbian tennis coach and a former professional player. He won three singles and two doubles titles on the ATP Tour.
