2011 Martyr's Memorial B-Division League
The 2011 Martyr's Memorial B-Division League season, also known as Martyrs Memorial RedBull 'B' Division League Football Tournament 2068 for sponsorship reasons, was the 2011 edition of the second-tier club football competition in Nepal. The season started on 24 August and ended on 27 September 2011. All matches were played at Nepal Police Foundation Ground. Martyr's Memorial B-Division League
Martyr's Memorial 'B' Division League (Nepali: शहीद स्मारक बी डिभिजन लीग) is the second tier of the association football league of Nepal football league system after the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League. It was established in 2003 and is run by the All Nepal Football Association.It is currently being held in ANFA Complex. Structure The league is formatted as a single round-robin tournament with the top two team getting promoted to the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League and the bottom two teams relegated to the Martyr's Memorial C-Division League. This structure has not remained constant however as the league structure is changed every year by the All Nepal Football Association. Sankata Boys Sports Club, commonly known as Sankata Club, is a Nepalese professional football club based in Kathmandu, that competes in the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League. Named after Sankata Temple, the club has won the national championship three times, most recently in 1985. History Being a successful club in the 1980s, Sankata won the title of the national championship in 1980, 1983 and 1985. Due to poor performance just winning five games out of 22 in A-Division league 2010 the club was relegated to Martyr's Memorial B-Division League after 38 years. The 2011 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League (known as the Martyrs' Memorial Red Bull 'A' Division League Football Tournament 2011 for sponsorship reasons) was the 39th season of the A-Division League since its establishment in 1954/55. A total of 18 teams competed in the league. The season began on 28 April 2011 and concluded on 16 July 2011. Defending champions Nepal Police Club won the league. A record of 18 teams participated in the league, playing a total of 153 matches. The timing also had to be reduced to final constraints and the timing of world cup qualifiers. The major was due the inception of National League as the top-tier league of country. Therefore, the league returned to single leg round robin formation.
