The 2011 Dial Before You Dig Australian Manufacturers' Championship 500 was an endurance motor race for production cars. It was held on 10 and 11 September 2011, at Sandown Raceway in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was Round 4 of the 2011 Australian Manufacturers' Championship, Round 4 of the 2011 Australian Production Car Championship and Round 2 of the 2011 Australian Production Car Endurance Championship. The race was won by Stuart Kostera and Ian Tulloch, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. The Lancer Evolution 9 of Tony Quinn and Klark Quinn finished in second place with another Lancer Evolution 9 in third, driven by Jim Pollicina and Dean Kelland. The race was run over two days and had two legs, each one scheduled to be eighty laps and 250km in length. However, due to stoppages and delays on each day while other categories were running, the Saturday leg was shortened to 73 laps and the Sunday leg to 60 laps. Sandown Raceway
Sandown International Raceway is a motor racing circuit in the suburb of Springvale in Melbourne, Victoria, approximately south east of the city centre. Sandown is considered a power circuit with its " drag strip" front and back straights being and long respectively. History Sandown Racecourse was first built as a horse racing facility, dating back into the 19th century, but closed in the 1930s in a government run rationalisation program. Redevelopment began not long after World War II. A bitumen motor racing circuit was built around the outside of the proposed horse track (which was not completed until 1965) and was first opened in 1962 and held the race which became the Sandown 500 for the first time in 1964. The Holden Astra is a small car formerly marketed by Holden. The first couple of generations of Astra were made only for Australia, and was a derivative of the locally produced Nissan Pulsar. With the Button car plan coming into effect, it was replaced by the Holden Nova, a rebadged Toyota Corolla. In 1995, Holden commenced selling the TR Astra in New Zealand. Glenn Seton (born 5 May 1965) is an Australian racing driver. He won the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1993 and 1997 while driving for his own team. Although he never won the Bathurst 1000 like his father Barry did in 1965, Glenn started from pole position in 1994 and 1996, and finished second three times.
