2011 African Women's Youth Handball Championship
The 2011 African Women's Youth Handball Championship was the 3rd edition of the tournament, organized by the African Handball Confederation, under the auspices of the International Handball Federation. The tournament was held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from August 7 to 13, 2011. Angola was the champion and the tournament qualified the top four teams to the 2012 world championship. Draw Preliminary round 6 teams were drawn into two groups of three, with the two top teams of each group playing the semifinals while the two third-placed teams played for the 5th place. The African Women's Youth Handball Championship is the official competition for youth women's national handball teams of Africa, organized by the African Handball Confederation, under the supervision of the International Handball Federation and takes place every two years. The African Handball Confederation, ( acronym CAHB) referring to a (french: Confédération Africaine de Handball), is the administrative and controlling body for African team handball. Founded on 15 January 1973 after the 2nd All-Africa Games in Lagos ( Nigeria), it represents the national handball associations of Africa under the supervision of the International Handball Federation (IHF). The CAHB headquarters is located in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Its current President is the Dr. Mansourou Aremou from Benin. The motto of the organisation is Let's build African Handball together.
