Costa Rican Primera División
The Primera División of Costa Rica, commonly known as Liga de Fútbol de Primera División (Liga FPD), and Liga Promerica for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional association football division in Costa Rica. It is administered by the Unión de Clubes de Fútbol de la Primera División (UNAFUT). The league consists of 12 teams, with the last-placed team Promotion and relegation, relegated to the Segunda División de Costa Rica, Liga de Ascenso. The league was founded in 1921, with C.S. Herediano, Herediano crowned as the first champions. Deportivo Saprissa, Saprissa is the most successful club having won the championship a record 40 times. Together with L.D. Cartago () is the head city of Cartago canton of the Cartago Province, and is composed of the Oriental and Occidental districts as stated in the administrative divisions of Costa Rica. The Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto is a football stadium in ''El Llano'' neighborhood of Alajuela, Costa Rica, which is the home of Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, one of the most successful football clubs from Costa Rica. Asociación Deportiva Ramonense is a Costa Rican football team playing at the top level. It was based in San Ramón, Alajuela. Their home stadium was Estadio Guillermo Vargas Roldán. Nowadays, A.D. Ramonense is playing at the 3rd division of the Costa Rican soccer. History A.D. Ramonense Founded on 5 April 1953, Domingo Borja became their first president.
