Competition format In the mass start, all biathletes start at the same time and the first across the finish line wins. In this competition, the distance is skied over five laps; there are four bouts of shooting (two prone, two standing, in that order) with the first shooting bout being at the lane corresponding to your bib (Bib #10 shoots at lane #10 regardless of position in race.) with rest of the shooting bouts being at the lane in the position they arrived (Arrive at the lane in fifth place, you shoot at lane five.). Anna Ivanovna Bogaliy () (born 12 June 1979) is a retired Russian biathlete. She is 167 cm tall and weighs 58 kg. Biography She was born in Vozhega, Vologda Oblast, on 12 June 1979. When she was 5, her family moved to Murmansk, where she started biathlon. She has had eleven podium finishes, three in first place, four in second, and has come third four times. Vita Semerenko (; born 18 January 1986) is a Ukrainian biathlete. She is Olympic champion in women's relay, Olympic medalist and multiple World championships medalist. She is one of the most successful Ukrainian winter athletes. Biathlete Valentyna is her twin sister. Career When she was in the fourth grade of elementary school, she took up cross-country skiing together with her twin sister Valentyna. But later they decided to switch to biathlon. Marie Dorin Habert (born 19 June 1986) is a retired French biathlete. Career She became junior world champion in relay (2004 and 2005). She represented France at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She was also on the bronze medal-winning French relay team at the Biathlon World Championships 2009. Dorin won a bronze in the women's 7.5 km sprint on 13 February 2010 and a silver in the relay. She won her first individual world cup victory at the 2015 world championships in Kontiolahti, Finland, in the sprint event, which was her first World Champion title as well. Kaisa Leena Mäkäräinen (born 11 January 1983) is a Finnish former world-champion and 3-time world-cup-winning biathlete, who currently competes for Kontiolahden Urheilijat. Outside sports, Mäkäräinen is currently studying to be a Physics teacher at the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu. Her team coach is Jonne Kähkönen, while Jarmo Punkkinen is her ski coach.
